Introduction: Hotel Restaurant Association Philippines (HRAP)
Founded on September 1952 by ten executives of the leading hotels and restaurants in Manila and nearby areas. Its goal was to upgrade the standards of local hospitality by improving management, skills and personnel service while keeping abreast of trends and development abroad.
HRAP remains training and education as its forefront priority. In 1995, HRAP in cooperation with the Singapore Hotel Association Training and Education Center (SHATEC) and thru the Hotel and Tourism Institute of the Philippines (HTIP), they started offering training and management programs using SHATEC’s modules and trainers. HRAP has graduated one hundred eighteen professionals in its advanced management programs and likewise sixteen students in its two years vocational course.
They also conduct regular seminars and outreach programs here in the Philippines with the cooperation with the Provincial chapter members. Currently, they have eight chapters in these provinces: Baguio, Davao, Bacolod, Negros Occidental, Iloilo City, Butuan, Cebu and Cagayan.
They have the following mission to make the Philippine Hospitality Industry be in its best:
* To take the lead role as the single voice organization representing the Philippine private business sector in the hotel & restaurant industry * To undertake programs and projects that will upgrade and professionalize the industry * To promote unity and cooperation among those in the industry and other entities engaged in tourism, in order to protect the interest and welfare of the industry. * To encourage and foster high ethical standards in business resulting in fair and honest competition. * To provide industry representation in matters of government regulatory policies/laws/rules affecting the industry. * To exercise dynamic leadership in promoting goodwill, understanding, fellowship within the hospitality industry both national and international.
