Workarounds For Nurses

Workarounds is a type of working systems to accomplish an activity while a usual system is failed. Work around helps to give temporary solution but does not continue to help in the future. However for long terms, workarounds has risks because this system has a lot of unsafe practice which need to improve and not properly set for long term uses. An example of workaround situation is : some unsafe practice a nurse administering medicines to a patient without out documenting it. The nurse's plan being documenting whenever she get a chance to do so. May be the nurse busy with another pt or has emergency so another nurse assigned to help this nurse. The other nurse check the electronic medication administration record (eMAR) and it shows patient due meds. This kind of risky performance put a patient's life in danger. They are abnormal procedures typically used because of insufficiency in system and work efficiency. I fell that workaround differ according to persons and do not work out problems based on system as a result it is a risk factor and direct to many medical errors.
The nurses have too many workload, nurse to patient ratio is not proportional so it is hard for them each time to login in the computer due to their busyness. This could be risky because nurses can chart the wrong patient's health report by accident or give wrong report for other health caregivers. In addition may be someone read patient chart that is HEPPA. To change nurse to patient ration in nursing home is the best benefit for a patient, so nurses can give best care for their patients and patients get quality
