Work Harder
You Can Always Work Harder
The best advice that I have ever received is that you should always try your hardest because if you don’t, you will regret it later. I incorporate this advice into my life by working hard in school, clubs, and sports. I know that if I do not try my hardest to reach my goals, I will always look back and wish I could redo it. For example, during a hard practice when I am tired and wish I could stop, I tell myself to keep working harder because I can always do more. I realize that it is always possible to work harder and that the extra work will always pay off. Later in my life, when I have accomplished all of my goals, I will look back at all of the hard work I put in during high school and I will have no regrets. I do not want to look back at high school and wish I had worked just a little bit harder or done a little bit more. This spring, after a track meet or long volleyball tournament, I am often up late finishing homework or studying. Even though I may be very exhausted, I do not quit working on my homework until it is complete and I have done my best work. When I am racing in track or swimming, I try not to slow down at any time, no matter how much I want to. Even though I feel exhausted in the middle of the race, I tell myself to keep going hard because it will be worth it in the end even if I can barely move. Even though I do not know what I want to do with my future, I do know that if I put in as much effort as I can into school and activities now, then it will be a lot easier to reach the goals that I will dream up later on. I know I want to do everything I can to have a great high school experience while working towards my goals at the same time. I never want to look back and wish I could have worked harder or done more, so I am always going to do my best right now while I can.

    What Moves Me

My mother has always told me “do your best, and forget the rest”. This is something that I have lived by since I was ten years old and I honestly am so thankful to have this motto in my life. My father’s favorite quote was “shoot for the moon, even if you miss you’ll land among the stars”. They told me this every day before I would go to dance, and it would always encourage me to do my very best, even if I wasn’t in the mood to be dancing that day. I cannot explain enough how much my parents move me, they are truly more than I ever expected out of anyone. I am so blessed to have a support system that ‘moves’ me in this way, because I am aware that not many people have this support system. I count my blessings every day, as I am extremely lucky. In the future, I hope to ‘move’ my parents in my own way, because they have done so much for me in my…

Throughout my life I've always had to be better than everyone else because I had it harder than everyone around me. Being from a low income, single parent household presented a lot of challenges. Goals for English

Henry David Thoreau once said, "In the long run, men hit only that they aim at, therefore they had better aim at something high." I agree with Thoreau completely. When you have goals in life, you're going to do anything and everything to accomplish those goals. Therefore why not set higher goals that you will endeavor just with diminutive amount of more effort? One semester of English has gone by and there's another semester to go. Even though I have done fairly well in English the first semester, I would like to do even better the second semester. I can only do better if I have a plan and this plan is the different types of goals I am going to set for myself. You can't be a good student by just doing well in one aspect of any subject. You need to become better in all aspects of the subject and become a better student overall.…

I always strived to do the best that I can, in everything that I do, and this especially applies to academics. In 6th grade, I joined the honors program at my middle school; from then on forward, I made sure than my work was of high enough quality so that the following year I would be placed in honors courses. These courses are what I believe prepared me for my success in high school. I got a taste of what it was like to be in an environment where every pupil was hungry for an education and for knowledge, and I grew to want to learn as much as my classmates. I entered high school with courses that upperclassmen had that challenged me more than anything else had before. It was during my freshman year of high school that I realized that I couldn’t…

Secondly, it is possible that in spite of working hard, the results may not be those you expected, and in some cases you might feel useless and without motivation, but you should think that the upshots could be many times better than what is happening in the very near moment. That’s in fact the key of achieving: not let yourself be collapsed by setbacks.…
