Only few days after Woodstock was the landing of Apollo 11 on the moon, this was of course went down as one of the most victorious days in American history, and a couple days prior to that was the murders of the Manson family. It is easily said that landing on the moon was one of the greatest accomplishments for America. This event is right at the top of the list with events such as The Civil Rights Act of 1964, Obama becoming presedent in 2009, and the Emancipation proclamation of 1863. On July 16 of 1969 three men, commander Neil Armstrong, Command module pilot Michael Collins and lunar module pilot Edwin ”Buzz” Aldrin launched inside of a rocket, with 7.5 million pounds of thrusting upward into space to make as Buzz Aldrin once said “One …show more content…

The media continuously impacts, both positively and negatively, victims every day. Whether they are providing accurate, too much or inaccurate information, it will forever impact the victim’s life. Debra Tate, sister of slain Sharon Tate, describes events that occurred after her sister had been murdered by Charles Manson. Back in the late 60’s, there were no rules or regulations when it came to the media and victims. Debra specifically recounts that although cameras were around almost every day, they were not ready for the media circus that followed her sister’s death. After this heinous crime, the Tate family lost all privacy as the media would camp outside their home to get a glimpse at their reaction. The media shifted gears, and rather reporting about Tate they chose to report about Manson and his followers.…

Charles Manson, for the last 43 years, has captivated a nation. In August of 1969, he managed to bring together a group of people which were from a portion of society that no one would seem to associate with the horrendous murders of Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Abigail Folger, Voytek Frykowski, Steven Parent, Rosemary LaBianca, and Leno LaBianca. This group which Manson formed was known simply as “The Family.” Some called him a madman, some called him a genius, other called him a nightmare but, no matter what they called him, Charles Manson has never been ignored. The question that beckons an answer is, why? How could this little man become a larger than life icon and how could so many of those never expected to commit these crimes allow themselves to become the pawns in this maniacal man's skewed chess game? That is what we will attempt to explore. We will do this by first attempting to understand the man, Charles Manson. Secondly, we will look at one of the stages of group/team development and investigate the era in which this nightmare of society was beginning to unleash his hellish form of vengeance. Lastly, we will uncover what type of backgrounds these followers of the so called Manson family came from. After discussing these three things we will sum it all up and try to give clear reasoning behind what has come to be known as “Helter Skelter.”…

Watson, Fromme, and Van Houten, the three killers present in the LaBianca and Tate murders, were all individuals that exhibited particular strains of social deviancy that Manson was able to prey upon. Van Houten, for example, experienced heavy drug use and had an abortion at a young age, Fromme became heavily involved in marijuana use and fringe political movements, and Watson committed burglary often at a young age. Watson, in particular, became “immersed into criminal activity and surrounded by people with favorable attitudes toward deviance” (Atchison and Heide 791). Desperate for a value system that made sense to his own worldview and his experiences, Watson would be easily seduced by Manson into the latter 's Family, merging their two philosophies of life into a single entity where only Manson 's orders mattered. Van Houten 's poor relationship with her parents and her social shunning as a result of her abortion led her to find a warm and inviting community in Manson 's Family, allowing her to “become one with the Family and to let her former identity go” (Atchison and Heide 792). This ability to recreate one 's own image and identity along views that Van Houten deemed correct created a hold on her that Manson could…

Manson was had been the mastermind behind four attacks. First was the Crowe shooting, “The family” had been on the search for some drugs, Manson was lead to a black drug dealer names Bernard Crowe, in believeing in the Helter Skelter theory Mansons Family took action and shot/killed the man. Next was the Hinman murder, Manson had been suspicious that a fellow neighbor of his named Gary Hinman had stolen some money from him. Manson sent over a few members of the cult to go get the money and when Bobby wouldn’t cough it up, Manson had retaliated by keeping him hostage for two days full of tortue until finally a member had stabbed him to death. After that came the tate muders, the most famous of Mansons groosum work. On the night of August 8, 1969, Charles "Tex" Watson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Linda Kasabian were sent by Manson to the old home of Terry Melcher. Their instructions were to kill everyone at the house and make it appear like Hinman's murder, with words and symbols written in blood on the walls. The four did as they were told and brutally killed Steven Parent, Jay Sebring, Wojciech Frykowski, Abigail Folger, Sharon Tate and Sharon Tate's unborn child. Manson had planned to make this infuriate the whites so that they would retaliate against the black and quite possibly his Helter Sketler theory may have came true. Each of the “family” members were later convicted all though that subject would be up for debate whether Charles was actually guilty or not. After all was said and done after a misserable childhood full of quite possibly the worst family structure possible, the hard come up of mischief and rebelliance, the drug addiction, and the unsuccesfull attempt at making it as a rock star Manson did in fact have a hard life but it was no reason to lash and do what he did. Till this day I believe Manson had gone nuts since the day his mother didn’t want him anymore and he was looking for a “family”…

The Comparisons of Charles Manson to Transcendental Philosophy Charles Manson and various members of his "family" brutally killed several people from the Tate and LaBianca family on two separate occasions . The purposes of these killings are misunderstood by today's society, when ignoring Manson's philosophy. Although Manson never killed anyone, he went to prison in 1969 for masterminding the operation. Today's society has labeled Charles Manson as a mass-murderer who had no purpose through his cause. However, society overlooks the goal of Manson's plan, which included creating a better society.…

To some, Woodstock was one of the biggest rock concerts ever, but to many others it was a huge historical event that changed America and its views on the Vietnam War forever. Woodstock was one of the biggest anti-Vietnam War movement to ever exist, it also marked the beginning of the Vietnam War as well. The concert was originally supposed to be held in a town named Woodstock, New York on Max Yasgur's 600 acre area, but was transferred to Bethel, New York because there was not enough room for the crowd expected(Pendercast 862). People were influenced to come because it was a concert that featured a lineup of the biggest and best names in the business at the time(NA "Where Have All The War Songs Gone? 1). On July 20, 1969 Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. Or some people believe that he walked on the moon. Although it seems like we have picture proof, many people do not believe this to be true. Some on the non-believers thought the “Moon Landing” were fake, and staged to make it look like the United States had won the space race against the Soviet Union, or Russia, to cheat the public out of billions of dollars.…

It's now been nearly four decades since Neil Armstrong took his "giant leap for mankind" — if, that is, he ever set foot off this planet. Doubters say the U.S. government, desperate to beat the Russians in the space race, faked the lunar landings, with Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin acting out their mission on a secret film set, located (depending on the theory) either high in the Hollywood Hills or deep within Area 51. With the photos and videos of the Apollo missions only available through NASA, there's no independent verification that the lunar landings were anything but a hoax.…

Our government has been lying and betraying our fellow citizens since the dawn of the United States. But the biggest lie they have hit us with is the 1969 Moon Landing. In other words, IT NEVER HAPPENED. There are enormous amounts of evidence that proves that it was all a hoax. It seems to me that all of the historical event that has happened in America have either been planned, hoaxed, or misunderstood. And the Moon Landing fits all 3 categories. It’s amazing how our own government can lie about such an event(sarcasm). I wrote about this event due to the fact that people still believe we actually did land on the moon when in reality, we never did. The truth needs to be out, and the government needs to speak the truth, but they never will and that’s why I’m speaking it for…
