“Witness Report”

PART ONE – What method of evangelism did you use and how did you start the conversation? The method of evangelism that I used was the Apostles Evangelism. The reason why I choose this type of evangelism is because it gives the entire plan of salvation including the baptism. This plan of salvation gives scriptures throughout not just one particular book in the bible. We had a teenager to come and visit our church and I knew by one of the members that the teenager has had some difficult situations in her family life and all she had left is to try Jesus. The member wanted me to talk with the teenager about salvation. I started the conversation out by asking, “Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed?” Some situations one has to be very direct and this one of these situations. The teenager stated she has not received the Holy Ghost. I then asked if she has been baptized in Jesus name. The teenager stated that she has not; various scriptures in Acts were read to her. There are other scriptures to back up the book of Acts such as I Corinthians, Romans and Galatians but time and the situation did not permit to go into other books of the Bible.
PART TWO – What was the reaction (questions/comments/statements) of the unbeliever? The reaction of the teenager was a little confused but interested in what I had explained to her. The teenager had seen the others dancing and speaking in unknown tongue so I believed she wanted that same type of joy. She wanted to know about the Holy Ghost. I began to explain what the Holy Ghost was and gave her scripture. I told her the evidence that she has the Holy Ghost is that she would speak in an unknown tongue; but no one could give her this but the Lord. She also wanted to know what she had to do in order to receive the Holy Ghost. I explained to her all she needed to do is just believe; she did not have tarrying around the altar as I once did. I told her Hallelujah is

Operation in Detail: After adequate pre-operative evaluation, pre-operative medication, and signing the informed consent, the patient was taken to the operating room and administered a general endotracheal anesthetic with prominences well-padded. She underwent an uneventful reduction and was placed on traction through a well-padded boot. Her left lower extremity was flexed and abducted at the hip. All boney prominences and the peroneal nerve were well-padded. Fluoroscopic AP and lateral images revealed a good reduction of her intertrochanteric femoral fracture. The right hip was then sterilely prepared with Betadine scrub and solution and draped into the sterile field. She was administered IV preoperative antibiotics. A straight lateral approach to the proximal femur was made. Dissection was carried through the skin and subcutaneous tissue. Hemostasis was obtained with electrocautery. The fascia lata was divided in line with the skin incision. The fascia over the vastus lateralis was divided in line with the skin incision, and the vastus lateralis was divided in line with its fibers, revealing the lateral aspect of the proximal femur which was retracted with the…

In Aberdeen when someone commits a crime, either felony or misdemeanor, they are usually prosecuted by the State of South Dakota. For example when someone gets their indictment, or other court paperwork, it should say at the top: State of South Dakota vs _________. Since the State is doing the prosecuting instead of the city or county, each county has their own state’s attorney’s office. This is similar to the materials discussed in class. In the book it refers to district or county attorneys; those prosecutors much like ours are elected, and prosecute crimes committed in that county. The Brown County State’s Attorney office currently has five lawyers, and four legal aids. One of those lawyers is the state’s attorney, one is the chief deputy, and the other three are regular deputy attorneys. An average salary for a state’s attorney is between $75,000-80,000; while the total budget for the whole office is approximately $700,000.…

Spiritual Gifts are granted by the Holy Spirit as He wills. There are many gifts that are all granted by the same Spirit to benefit the body of Christ (1 Cor. 2:4, 7). However, when referring to either the Gifts or Fruits of the Spirit, consideration is needed to avoid confusing their meanings (Towns, p. 306). In addition, the gift of tongues and its relation to the baptism of the Spirit are highly debated upon. This essay will discuss biblical proofs and the questions surrounding these gifts, plus reveal the “perfect” reward in the end.…

The adult candidate understood what this ritual so to speak meant and consists of so they were totally at ease. I would have to say that social beliefs and judgments play a huge role in religion and how we practice it today. Many of us were raised (at least in my community) that you had to go to church on Sunday and this was not an area to bargain in; even though many of us didn’t know why we were actually going. Many of these beliefs are passed down from generation to generation and are practiced to this day. This is where conformity comes in. I can tell by the youth that were waiting to be baptized that they really didn’t want to be here but had to because this is what their parents said. The level of anxiousness varied based on Gender; the girls looked nervous and were more fidgety than the boys. From where I was sitting, you could tell that the boys were nervous as well, but their macho bravado (even for the younger ones) wouldn’t let them exhibit it too much; I am guessing that they didn’t want to look like they were weak in the eyed of their peers. All of this is a part of Group…

The first thing Meghan asked was, “Are you one of those Christian people who really believes in God or just one that goes to church on Sunday?” I was surprised at her forwardness but told her that while I go to church on Sunday’s with Matt and my family, I do my best to not just be a “Sunday Christian” and do everything for God’s glory. She was very receptive of my answer but when I inquired to her beliefs, she did not want to discuss them any further. During this, Matthew was very interested in the conversation, but Corey seemed very uncomfortable. He was squirming the entire time and didn’t have much to say after our conversation ended. Corey is not a believer and does not like to discuss his beliefs. Later on, when we were saying goodbye after the movie, I spoke with Meghan again on the topic of beliefs and she gave me her number for us to get together and discuss my faith in more detail. She said that the reason she did not wish to discuss the topic further during our meal was because of Corey. She knew that it made him uncomfortable to talk about it and didn’t want to upset him. However, she was very interested in learning more about becoming a Christian, and allowed me to pray for her before we left.…

In " Education Is Not Luxury", Stephen Joel Trachtenberg discussed about that people should take school seriously and in his opinion, " Topics like these may be putting a squeeze on the time spent on literacy and numeracy." Years ago, most American worked in farming or in finishing agricultural crops. However, " Agrarian calendar continues to dominate one facet of American life--education.", even we are no longer agrarian. Schooling was a luxury and it is a long process of educating the young but "America will never take schools seriously as long as they operate on the ancient agrarian calendar" or "they are open from only nine to three o'clock or some equivalent." So people thought that "this schooling business is a part-time occupation." So the schools have to do the right thing to make them important to people by spending time on literacy and numeracy. So the schools should be able to teach both academic subjects and other things. This would at least show that schools are serious. It could also help teachers to find a job and getting paid. Students would learn what they should learn. " Universities are driven by their double missions of learning and service and the compelling. However young students do not take the class seriously and they do not desired to learn, even have the opportunities to learn. In " Expanding Offerings", " many students come to school without any training in foreign languages, or that only couple of languages. And " many school districts must deal with immigrant children." School calendar can help teachers to keep their teaching on track and teaching more. But there are some objections which against to achieve more cause they do not have money, most of learning do not take place at school and extending the school days and making the day longer.…

Stepping off the plane into a crowded and foreign environment was like being thrown onto a whole different planet where I could not understand what was being said and could not even read signs let alone find a bathroom. In our group there were people who spoke Portuguese that took us to our hotel about an hour into the city in Fortaleza, Brazil where more than half the population experiences poverty and hunger. I had the privilege of working with young kids of many different Brazilian communities everyday; our team would come with a variety of different vacation bible school activities. Our team would sit with the kids in a circle for story time with a big picture book that told the story of Jesus’s birth or the miracles of Jesus walking on water or healing the blind. However we were also there to simply love these children, just as Jesus’s would have by spending time with them, providing food for them and playing games together. At night we would spend our time at a youth group with high school aged kids who brought struggles of their past and preconceived ideas of Christianity. Our team would spend time talking to the kids but relating to them was so difficult, in their normal day they…

    "Witness" Analysis

The film “Witness”, directed by Peter Weir, is about the traditional Amish life versus the violent ways of the Western World. The film begins when an Amish boy named Samuel Lapp witnesses the murder of a policeman, and when detective John Book discovers it was an ‘inside job’ he gets shot and takes Samuel and his mother Rachel back to their Amish community. While nursing the bullet wound he stays with them for a week and learns the Amish way of life. He is not comfortable at first but he is eventually accepted by the Amish and falls in love along the way. One scene that captures the serenity and happiness of the Amish is the barn raising scene, which Weir uses to emphasis their supportive and community-minded ways and show that John Book has finally been accepted into their community. The scene also positions the viewers to recognize the developing love between John and Rachel. This film’s proactive portrayal of the Amish would not be as vibrant without the barn raising scene which demonstrates that they are a helpful and loving community. Peter Weir achieves this by many well thought-out cinematographic techniques.…
