why i want to become a nurse
As a child, my dream had always been to become a nurse. I remember as a young child playing hospital with my siblings I was always the one taking the temperature, listening to the heart beat and giving the medicine. It is true, when I was younger I did not understand the full job description of a nurse, all I knew was that they took care of people, however, I did what came naturally. I also remember being extremely jealous when my mother bought my brother a doctor set.
Needless to say, I always snuck and played with it when he wasn't around or too busy playing with something else. The compassionate, warmth, and determination that my family truly and deeply poses, helped mold me into the person I am today. Seeing my mother and siblings go out of their way to help someone in need, helped me grasp these sensational virtues. I understood that everlasting feeling of joy, accomplishment and self-worth that making a difference in someone's life was when, in my turn, was helping friends of mine with assignments in class, or even people I didn't know crossing the street, carrying shopping bags to their doorstep and even something as simple as putting a Band-Aid on a child's cut. As simple as these deeds were, they were all the more gratifying for me and more so when I started working as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I truly admired taking care of my patients, helping them accomplish daily goals and being a part of their accomplishment, was even more gratifying than I could have ever dreamt.

I firmly believe that being a nurse is my calling in life. My eagerness to learn, help people and personality along with my efficiency will benefit any of my future employers and certainly make me a better person and remarkable nurse.

Pursuing a career in the nursing field was the first change that I decided to make when I held my sister's hand as she gave birth to my three year old nephew. I was inspired by the care that was provided to my sister and my newborn nephew by various types of nurses before, during, and after birth. Since then, my awareness for the well-being of others increased while learning more about nurses and what they do. My first experience volunteering at Texas Children's Hospital has also encouraged me even more to become a nurse when I encountered my first four year old cardiac patient. I was prepped by his nurse in how to safely interact with the patient while she was helping me into my protective gown and gloves. The real inspiration was actually meeting the patient and lessening his anxiety of being in a hospital through one on one contact.…

Becoming a Registered Nurse has been something that I want to become in the future, since I was twelve years old. At that time I experienced having my niece hospitalized when being a month old from pneumonia. Those moments are hard experiences that no one would like to experience but it is part of life. Therefore since that time I want to make a difference on the people who have to be hospitalized, helping them to recover. Although I would like to specialize with infants and children because they have a lower immune system and those are the most fundamental years of their lives.…

I began nursing school at Valencia College in August of 2006. Once I completed my pediatric clinical rotation at Arnold Palmer hospital, I began working as an advanced clinical tech in acute pediatrics--a pediatric medical surgical unit. From that moment on, I knew that I wanted to become a Pediatric Nurse. Pediatrics brings such a unique perspective in health care that I fell in love with it and to follow, I completed a pediatric nursing internship in my last year of nursing school and began my nursing career as a graduate Nurse in 2007. The first few years of nursing were some of the best times of my career as I learned the foundations of how to care for children and families and I knew I wanted to excel at it. After working nearly a year and a half as a RN in the acute pediatrics unit, I transferred to the emergency room--the only level one trauma center in the Central Florida area.…
