Why I Love South Africa
7 Day Creation

“You will never find time for anything. If you want time, you must make it,” an aphorism that has been a great influence in my life. I mean, what is time? Time is a non-spatial continuum in which events occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future. To me, time is just a pigment of one’s imagination, and that travelling back and forward through it is all a matter of splitting the space-time continuum, and creating a portal or vortex into the alternate dimensions. It has taken many years in order to approach a device stable enough to withstand the shear force of ripping open the continuum, but on the eve of the 2nd July 2013 (the exact centre of the calendar year), a man by the name of Lacuna Tempus assembled a device that perfectly splits and alters time at such a demanding frequency that it creates a portal that allows you to jump from here to alternate time fragments. Therefore perfecting time travel and the key into unlocking the secrets of the universe.

The scientist became world famous, earning numerous awards, including the prestige Nobel Prize for physics. He made millions of dollars founding the Tempus Genius Institute, a working environment for gifted thinkers and inventors who want to put their ideas to good use. Its location was upon a beach off the coast of the Pacific with time machines in a garage next to the institute (Lacuna was the only person allowed to distribute time machines to undisclosed consumers of his choice, this was to prevent them from getting into the wrong hands). The tragic death of Lacuna, lead to the uprising of his obnoxious heir, his son William. This is my story….

Since I was a kid, I could sleep through anything, storms, sirens, you name it. I tend to have this inner monologue running through my head when I start daydreaming, I guess I get a bit goofy when I’m nervous, thinking what it’d be like today and if I’m willing to spend the rest of my life here.

The story about Nikola Tesla is the story of a genius who was largely disrespected and abused by other scientists and inventors. Through my research I have managed to find out about the forgotten genius, his creation, the competition against direct current, and his true predictions. Time is defined as the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future. In simple terms, it is ongoing events that have happened, are happening, and will continue to happen. In researchers timeless attempts to unveil the mystery of time, some have came upon a conclusion that time exists in the order of past and present. The future ceases to exist due to the fact that the future is affected by the present. If we were to ponder deeper into the context of time, what seemed like the future is very well a projection of predictions formed by present time. If future does exist, hence every occurrence of the present time was scripted like a play and events will subject to no alterations. However, from what humanity portrays, it is the humankind who led time to its complex state of contradictions.…

Nikola Tesla was a Serbian born American citizen who changed the face of electrical current as we know it. He was an inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, physicist, and futurist. Tesla was a person well ahead of his time and he paid dearly for it. Tesla’s achievements and his ability as a showman demonstrating his seemingly miraculous inventions made him world famous but later became the archetypal “mad scientist”. Tesla’s later works were surrounded in controversy and brought him to his knees as a recluse living in a room of the New Yorker Hotel. Tesla died in 1943 penniless and in debt leaving a legacy that will never be forgotten.…

Growing up in America, most children will learn about the history of electricity, telephones, engines, and other mechanical inventions. Almost everybody has heard of Benjamin Franklin and his discovery using lightening and a kite, Thomas Edison manufacturing the first plausible indoor light bulb, and other revolutionary discoveries. Unfortunately, here in the US, a Belgian mastermind that helped to shape the modern technological world is quite staggeringly less heard of. Nikola Tesla made some of the most ground breaking discoveries in scientific history, his findings and patents are still being researched today and have recently been proven useful and innovative for even the most…

    Is Time Real

    • 567 Words
    • 3 Pages

The aspects of time that we can understand are only based on what we can perceive, observe, and calculate. Every day we look at our watches or clocks. We plan our day around different times of the day. Time tells us when to eat, when to sleep, and how long to do things for. Is time real? To answer this question, let me explain what time is first. Time is defined as a measured or measurable period, a continuum that lacks spatial dimensions. This broad definition lacks the simple explanation that humans are searching for. There are many scientists, philosophers, and thinkers who have tried to put time into understanding terms. In the following paragraph, I will discuss the meaning of time perceived and theorized by two of the greatest minds of human kind – Einstein and Kant.…

I stepped into the portal of time that illuminated my bedroom wall. Like an endless spiral of darkness is what it looked like. I struggled to place my portal-acquiring-device—also known as PAD, in my pocket due to the overwhelming pressure, however I managed to just before I reached the other end. Lost in utter confusion, I wasn’t entirely sure what or where I am. I sighed in disappointment of my PAD, it’s got a mind of its own I presumed. But for all I know now, I could have been between where the universe started or where the universe ended. The time gap is… no big deal, I think.…

    Conscious vs Unconscious

    • 578 Words
    • 3 Pages

When you're awake, your conscious mind works to evaluate a lot of these thoughts, make decisions and put certain ideas into action. It also processes new information and relays it to the unconscious mind. The conscious mind is the main inhibitive component in your makeup -- it's in charge of putting on the brakes -- while the unconscious mind is the seat of imagination and impulse. But when you're asleep, the conscious mind gets out of the way, and your unconscious has free reign.…
