Sports: Strength, Success, and Then There’s Steroids

Imagine your favorite athlete winning gold in the Olympics. Doesn’t that make you proud? Well, now what if you found out that he/she cheated by using steroids. What a horrible way to win! Steroids is ruining the fun and pride in all sports. I personally believe that steroids are just abolishing all athletes hard work. Cheaters should never win, but many can get away with cheating by using steroids or performance enhancing drugs.First of all, the use of steroids is simply unfair. It will make An athlete's self esteem will go down after a loss. Additionally, performance enhancing drugs, are horrible for an athlete’s health.. If someone in the Olympics for example, is caught using steroids, they will be banned or disqualified from the games. One example of an athlete that experience this was Lance Armstrong. He was famous American cyclist that was caught doping in the Tour De France. The ABC News states, “ The global governing body of cycling today said it will officially strip Lance Armstrong of his seven Tour De France titles and ban him from the sport for life, marking an epic downfall for the cyclist once lauded as the greatest of all time but now at the center of a doping scandal,” ( ABC News , paragraph 1). This quote demonstrates that strict rules will eliminate as much cheaters as possible or embarrass the ones who are caught. Additionally, not only are you stripped of all your medals that you did not rightfully ear, but you are also in debt to pay a great fine. The famous cyclist Lance Armstrong had to face a 10 million fine for cheating on a drug test. This is another reason why athletes should avoid using steroids, the media.
