Why students should stay in school
Why students should stay in school

Why do we need to study? Math, English, Science...don't we know this already? Why do we have to go study all the way to college/university? Why do we have to get up 7.00am in the morning just to study? I thought sleep was more important. A lot of people think that it’s not important to stay in school but it’s one of the most important things in life. Life would be great if we didn't need education and get high paying jobs. But, that's not how it works. Well… here are the answers to all your questions.

To make good money as an adult, you must have a good job. To have a good job, you must have a good education and go to college/university. To go to college/university, you must go to high school and elementary school. School does not only teach subjects like English, Math, History, or Science, but it also lets us meet new people and build good character. Stay in school, because it will help you meet new people, build good character, and will also get you to a job that you will love. A lot of jobs in today’s society require you to talk to and meet new people. For example, if you are a teacher, you need to learn how to talk clearly to a classroom full of students. If you dropout or don't go to school at all, you'll go nowhere, and end up in a job with minimum wage like McDonald's or Tim Horton's. Nowadays, you need education just for having a job in McDonald's

Alot of people have set their mind on what they want to be when they grow up. But as you grow up, you might change your mind. Alot of people do, at least I did. So in order to make sure what you want to be, you have to discover yourselves by completing your education. And by that i mean trying out what you are good at. For example; if you are really good with numbers, you can work at a bank, or if you are good at art, you can be a designer. So you have to stay and discover yourself until you find the right career for yourself.

Who doesn't love money?

Everyone is asked one question, at a very young age. That question is: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” There isn’t a time I can remember when an adult didn’t ask me this question. When I was six, I would respond with the usual movie star, fashion designer, or veterinarian. My answer would be said confidently, as at this age I walked through life as if it were no big deal. My answer occasionally changed to fit with my many childhood phases, but my view on the question stayed the same. When I was a child, I replied to this inquiry the same way everyone else did; I answered with an occupation. It took me years to discover my new approach to this question. My new response did not include my dream job, but how I saw myself in the future.…

Most fourteen year olds have no idea what they want to be when they grow up. I guess you could say I fell into this same category. That is, until my Careers teacher gave me a life changing assignment. For this assignment, I had to pick a career and job shadow a person in that profession. I had no idea what direction to turn. Then, one day while sitting in the dental chair waiting for my dentist, I began mulling over different career possibilities. When my dentist came in to finish my exam, it suddenly crossed my mind that maybe dentistry was a possibility. I started paying attention to what he was doing and soon realized that this was something I wanted to learn more about. I remember how excited I was when I told my mom I had found the perfect person for my assignment.…

Unfortunately, in today’s society, this timeless and straight forward question has been morphed into another creature. That being, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” We are constantly asked this question from the very minute that we learn to make coherent sentences. As a toddler, one only knows about a dozen occupations, half of which being princess, power ranger, or superhero most of which are not real options. Later, society pushes the “respectable” occupations into our minds such as doctors, lawyers and judges. Society does such a great job at doing this, that some people do not even realize that these occupations are not their Joie de Vivre until they are already working in these fields. For the longest time, I was also a casualty to this façade, wanting to be a doctor most of my life. Though, to find out how I got to where I am, we have to start at the beginning.…

The article “Are You Deciding On Purpose” about the interview of author, speaker, and counselor Richard Leider really made me think about my life and what I want to do with myself. Leider brings up many great points in the interview and it was an eye opener for me after I finished reading the article. The first thing he mentions in the interview is how people are intimidated by all the choices we have now as career options. Nowadays, there are so many career paths to choose from that it overwhelms people and the decisions that they make. I think this is true for everyone and especially me. I thought about this for a while and I too do not have any idea what I want to do in my life. I have changed my mind many times about what I wanted to do as a career and I always thought about the money. After I finished reading the article, I realized that picking a career path is not all about the money. It’s about whether you enjoy what you are doing because you spend 60% of your entire life working. If I spent 60% of my entire life just working to pay the bills, I would be miserable by the time I’m retired because there wasn’t any satisfaction or fulfillment for me. I still don’t have any clue on what I want to do with my life but reading this article really changed my mind on a lot of things.…

In the past and even now, people have been discussing if the State of Florida should raise the age for students in school. Students should stay in school until 18 for two reasons. One reason is because they will get a higher education. Another reason is because they will get a better job and income. On the opposing side, some people argue that students should not stay in school until they're 18 because classroom issues arise from these students. However, there are many more significant reasons for students should stay in school until 18.…

Imagine a school where you only had four days of school per week instead of five. As it turns out, there is such a school district in Pennsylvania in order to save the district money. Most students are thrilled by this idea, yet some aren't so sure it would be the best thing. I think this would be a good idea and should be pushed out to other districts because kids could get a longer break, more time for extracurricular activities, and there wouldn't be a huge difference anyway.…
