Why I Want To Pursue A Degree In Radiology

Radiology is a subject I find fascinating as both a student in search of a future role in healthcare and as a person who wants to help improve the quality of life for those with poor prognoses. It has become central to a wide range of disciplines in the clinical practice of medicine. Radiology has become a precise and practical method to monitor treatments, diagnose patients, and track progression and deterioration of many known common diseases. My long-term goal is to earn my Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Imaging and then attend medical school. After earning my degree from medical school, I plan to specialize in radiology. A degree alone is enough to apply for a job, but I desire to contribute back to the medical community and be part of future endeavors made by medical practitioners by providing healthcare while investigating and contributing to research of unknown diseases. On the path to earning my Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging and medical school, I also seek experience in study abroad programs and biomedical related research. Currently, I am coordinating with a Doctor of Radiology in the United States Virgin Islands to organize a shadowing experience.
