Why I Choose Community Clubs
My husband and I love going to parks in the evenings for walks; during the summer, we are able to attend free concerns during the week and some weekend in the park. Some of the reasons why we choose the park are because: one, we are able to exercise; two, we are able to spend some quality time together, as we rarely see each other due to our schedule. The third reason is because it is free; we both of us being students we love to save money wherever we can.
We also attend dance sessions every Friday at our local community center. The community center offers one hour free dance lessons every Friday. Attending these lessons enable my husband and I to be learn different dances, our favorites being Salsa and Line dance. Every Friday evening, we

For stores that I frequently shop, I have my email on file, which enables me to receive coupons at any time. I also do a lot of comparison: online to shop as well as different online site. If I can save even if it is $1.00 on my purchase, I have accomplished my goal.

Patience and preparation are the two advices I can give when it comes to saving money. Marketing love impulse buyers because these ones spend money carelessly. It is important to know or at least have an idea of what you want to buy before going to the shop. Although in theory this may be easy, it is not always the case. Therefore I encourage all to have a set budget in mind prior to going shopping. Having that price in mind will deter you from over spending.
The second advice is patience because we do not always get what we want when we want it. Unless it is a life threatening situation, I never pay for full price, especially when it comes to shoes or clothes. I always wait until the end of the season before engaging myself into a purchase. If I have the urge, I research several websites and stores before making my purchase. It is time consuming, but I have learned that if I am patient, I am able to save myself a lot of

One year we decided to feature the African culture for our fundraising. We put together a fashion show, dance and skit; we also provided food to our guests. Throughout the event, we emphasized the importance of lending a hand to those in need. We had pictures of children in need throughout the hall; we also had ushers that were going around discussing the topic with our guests. I was very impressed by how generous and caring the guests were. Not only were we able to raise $5,000.00 for the cause, but we were able to recover the expenses of the event. This fundraising event was a testament of

    Summary: Hoops For Haiti

During my high school years approximately around my sophomore/ junior year my basketball team including I myself attended the Hoops for Haiti fundraiser that Meredith Elementary school hosted. Hoops for Haiti helps aid the disaster relief fund that is held in Haiti. Hundreds of elementary school children paid $5 each for a chance to play with not only Neumann-Goretti’s women’s basketball team but also the men’s team too. All proceeds were meant to go directly to rebuild and fund schools in Haiti. I decided to talk about this specific service that I participated in because not only was it fun but I got to interact with kids younger than me and was able to put smiles on their faces, those who were there and hopefully those in Haiti knowing that they do have people who care and want to help them out in every way possible.…

Lately, I have been having some trouble balancing my spending, and prioritizing my money, so I think the virtue to best help me work on this is frugality. Frugality, meaning less is often more, is a virtue I should really become accustomed to, such as in the case of spending more on junk food and having less to save. Remembering that less is more is something that can be applied to many different aspects of life, because of this frugality is a virtue to be cherished and practiced in our homes and daily lives…

Invisible children’s club is an in-school organization focused on devoting its services to provide relief and build homes for disadvantaged children and people of Eastern Africa. This club is focused on bringing together students in order to make a positive impact on the world. I love this club very much because it is so committed to helping people. During the school year every year we think of new ways to raise money for our cause. Just recently this year we had a pet wash at our local pet store and asked people to come by with any donation, big or small. The event took place on a cold and drizzly Saturday morning. Everyone was hungry, tired, and freezing but that never stopped us from staying and washing the animals that came by. My best…

I was impressed by the video “the story of stuff”, (creative commons, 2013) Annie Leonard pointed out that people today are living under many different kinds of propaganda, and encouraged to buy many things no matter that stuff is needed or not. Therefore, consumerism was formed. Actually, people in Hong Kong also have the same phenomenon especially for online shopping. In recent 3-5 years, TaoBao (Taobao.com, 2015) which is a new and popular online shopping platform among Hong Kong people, the items shown on the web are with a very attractive price, some clothes can be bought by just 10 to 15 Renminbi (RMB), even add on the procurement cost is only cost about 20 Hong Kong Dollar (HKD). Honestly, I am also one of the frequent shoppers. Nevertheless, after watching this video, I would think clearly before I make up a decision to buy new clothes or accessories ever after since I do not want to burden our lovely and only planet so seriously anymore.…

    How to Waste Money

    • 635 Words

Shopping is another way to fritter your money away. It could be spent on groceries, clothes, books, jewelry or other household accessories. If you go shopping, it doesn’t matter if you need anything or not, you will find something to buy. For example, buy some extra food and throw it in the back of the fridge. Then a few weeks later, you can throw it in the garbage because it’s spoiled, and you can’t eat it. Another example of wasting money is buying costly brand name and designer clothes such as H&M and Zara and Coach shoes that you might not need, but do it for pleasure and fun. Instead of going to Target or Wal-Mart, shop at Macy’s, Nordstrom or any other big upscale department store. Moreover, rather than buying used books on eBay or Amazon, buy brand new ones from the campus book store. In these ways you can trash…
