In other words, hardships can often lead us to examine who we are and to question what is important in life. In my opinion, frequent adverse conditions, help us disclose our inner feelings and stamina to outer world. Throughout the society and in life, the evidence to support my viewpoint is pervasive.

Adversity can bring out the positive and negative sides in a person. In “The Proof of Worth,” Edgar Albert Guest demonstrates how challenges in life can help someone understand what he or she is capable of during a hardship. Similarly, “The Importance of Adversity in Growth and Development” written by Patrick Kohan exemplifies how children will never learn how to conquer an obstacle if they are always given assistance. Furthermore, Laura Hillenbrand’s novel, Unbroken, indicates that experiencing problems can affect the way a person’s body reacts and thinks about a difficult moment. Ultimately, the authors highlight that obstacles can be a complex or helpful task, as well as benefit people in the future when they need to know their true talents.…

Life is fraught with challenges to be overcome and obstacles to experience, and from the start we must learn how to bounce back from those challenges and obstacles. In Anna Harrington’s article, “Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way”, she defines resilience in a number of facets and argues that resilience is key to conquering life successfully. She states that resilience, or the art of bouncing back, is not about struggling in isolation, but about using and mobilizing normal human processes such as coping. (Harrington, 2012)…

Famous philosopher, Marcus Cicero, believes that, “The greater the difficulty, the greater the glory.” There is always people who get crushed by their difficulty everyday there is someone who struggles because whatever they are doing is difficult for them. Most people who are alcoholics almost never get sober because they love drinking. They might say that they are going to stop but they are likely to not stop. Difficulty makes people feel bad about them because they quit at what they are doing because it is to hard for them. Difficulty also sometimes makes people want to kill them self’s. It makes them do this because they are tired of doing what they can’t do. Therefore, difficulty is not an excuse for failure.…

Kanye West’s 2007 hit song, “Stronger” uses Friedrich Nietzsche’s philosophy, “That which does not kill us makes us stronger”. In his novel, The Happiness Hypothesis, Jonathan Haidt states his hypothesis that people must endure all the hardships of life in order to grow in all aspects. I agree with both Nietzsche and Haidt that through perseverance of all difficulties that occur in life, we can develop a stronger physical, social, mental, and emotional state. I find Haidt’s suggestion interesting because many hardships I have endured and am continuing to endure, prove his suggestion valid.…

Horace’s quote, “Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant,” means that while overcoming obstacles a person’s talents are shown that otherwise would remain unknown to the person. Horace is saying that adversity plays in the development of a person’s character and understanding turmoil and hardship. Times of struggle elicit different talents showing the true depth of human nature, unlike prosperous times. Those who are never faced with adversity are never challenged and therefore never have to reach deep from within to solve or help the problem. When human beings are passionate about achieving a goal, they learn something about themselves they have never known. Challenges are faced every day, but how we respond to them determines how strong we really are.…

If you are bemoaning and complaining about some hardships you have to endure, don 't. Behind the success of every person could have been a series of hardships endured and obstacles conquered. Hardships may refer to adversities, misfortunes, troubles, hard times, problems, or something that cause suffering. They accompany us from birth to death, along with our joys and memorable peak moments. Hardships can come in many forms. Depending on how you look at hardships they can be your road to character development. They can yank you out from your comfort zone, sometimes with no solid ground to stand on, and can lead you to make some much-needed changes in your life. They could make you suffer and in the process give you the grace to be strong. If one adversity could make you develop at least one virtue, then imagine how a number of adversities can develop your character and make you a better person. Hardships can teach you valuable lessons: to never take your health for granted, to spend below your means, behind every adversity is a lesson waiting to sit on your lap and be recognized as a friend and as a teacher. Hardships enable you to walk in the other 's moccasins so you can understand better the other person 's world. What defines our humanity is our ability to feel another person 's pain. It is therefore from hardships that we learn the gift of inter-connectedness and the realization that "we are in this together". Invisible scars stem from hardships that you have endured and overcame, making you a resilient person. We can be inspired by some of the most successful people who overcame hardships and became successful. Soichiro Honda: Born in rural Iwata-gun, Japan in 1906, Honda was the first son of a blacksmith. One of several hardships he had to endure was developing a piston ring which he intended to sell to Toyota Corporation. He pawned his wife 's jewelry, worked day and night, and slept in his workshop, always…
