Why Do Churches Serve Older People
The greatest contributors to services to older people among private organizations are the churches. Again, there is no way to estimate the impact of churches on serving older people. Most significantly, churches provide spiritual comfort and renewal to members of the congregations, and, additionally, with and outside the churches religious programs, churches serve older people in numerous ways. From social activities to provisions for housing, to providing voluntary assistance to the thousands of programs serving older people, churches are a significant and important part of the network of services to older adults.
