Why Did World War 1 Start

World War One started for two main reasons: the alliances of Europe and many countries, and what really set off the war, the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Franz Ferdinand was the crowned prince of Austria-Hungary who was sent to Serbia to keep peace between the countries. This happened on June 28th, 1914, and was murdered by a member of a group called the Black Hand, Gauvrillo Princip. Austria-Hungary wants revenge and will push what they call the July Ultimatum. This was a set of laws made by Austria-Hungary that said Serbians no longer had freedom of speech of Austria-Hungary, Serbia must remove their military from the Austria-Hungary border, all Black Hand members must be turned in, and lastly, all anti-Austria-Hungary members
This was because Germany made their submarines which they used to explode Entente ships with US cargo. This starts Unrestricted Sub Warfare on all Entente Force ships, including civilian ships. I think the US had the right idea when heading into this war and siding with the Entente because the Central powers wanted nothing to do with the US after they started destroying their goods. Germany starts sending threats to US newspapers about their start of Unrestricted Sub Warfare. Germany then sinks a ship with American goods and civilians on it. President Wilson was scared of entering World War One because of the economic status of the US at the time, because we were thriving from the trade and feared we would lose it all by siding with one of the forces. Because President Wilson was so against becoming a part of World War One, he made the Germans apologize for the sinking of the ship and receive reimbursements from Germany and then they agree to stop the warfare. However, when the rumor of the Zimmerman Telegram, a telegram from Germany to Mexico asking to be allies and asking Mexico to invade the US, makes its way to Wilson, we start to see a

I believe it was great for the US to get involved in the war for this reason. Women were put into the workforce because men were out at war. Many women volunteered for the Red Cross to become nurses. Women were also put into factories to aid in the mass production of goods such as weapons and foods for the men in the military.
