Why Did Roy Raymond Kill Himself
Why did Roy Raymond decide to kill himself? Could it have been the divorce that

he went through? Or was it because of the bankruptcy with his other stores? Could it

have been because of his economic demise? Maybe the only person who could

possibly know what happened on that day is his ex wife, Gaye Raymond..

Roy Raymond could of possibly killed himself because of his divorce. Or because

of the bankruptcy with his other stores. It even could be because of his economic

demise. Since no one was on the Golden Gate Bridge with Roy Raymond, we may

never know why he decided to take his own life.

The Tabloids tell many different stories, but which one is the truth? Does His ex

wife, Gaye, know? She knew he was severely depressed

Raymond left Allegretti and went to Red’s Tavern. Raymond was a “regular” at Red’s Tavern, and he has frequently gotten “obnoxiously and aggressively drunk” at Red’s. In his deposition, Raymond reveals that he arrived at Red’s Tavern at approximately 5:00p.m. (25:4-7). Raymond drank four shots of bourbon and four beers at Red’s in forty-five minutes. As Raymond “staggered” out of Red’s another customer said, “Man is that guy loaded.” Tony Simpson, the bartender and owner of Red’s said, “so what else is new.” Upon leaving Red’s at about 5:45p.m., Raymond states that he directly got into his car and continued his route of delivery (18:9-17).…

Even though the company reported a 15% growth in sales, a quick look at the merchandise inventory is one red flag of problems ahead. On February 1, 1992, Merry-Go-Round reported merchandise inventory of 59,971,000 and on January 30, 1993 reported inventory of 82,197,000. The growth in the inventories is a good indication that company was beginning to have problems in getting rid of merchandise. By having a bloated inventory that becomes old and stale, sales and profits will ultimately decline. As noted in an article by Stephanie Strom in the New York Time from 1994, “Merchandising mistakes, made by executives whom Mr. Weinglass has already sacked, largely precipitated Merry-Go-Round 's swift plunge into bankruptcy in January. Last year, when it seemed as if every teen-ager in America was sporting the lumber-jack look -- heavy lug boots, flannel shirts, thick socks -- Merry-Go-Round, which made its name gauging notoriously fickle adolescent tastes for a quarter-century, was trying to sell the hip-hop look -- baggy pants and hooded sweatshirts -- and bell-bottoms. The misjudgment bloated inventories, causing sales and operating profits to decline far enough to violate the company 's loan agreements. That produced a credit crunch” (After 12 years, Boogie is Back on the Merry-Go-Round). With the profits falling and a credit crunch in tow, it would seem plausible that it would become more difficult for the company to pay debt.…

Rather than stepping up to do the right thing, she keeps to herself, making it seem like she is as guilty as Matt. Both Matt and Ruth’s characterization together plays a vital role in the story. By closing the stores in the "higher" crime rate areas the business has affected the employees who worked in that area. They have also sent the message to the community that the area they were in was not "good enough" for their stores. This gives the community a sense of abandonment and also gives the community a negative opinion of the complete chain of stores. The remaining stores that are open are going to need to make up for this by giving some positive acts for the community to take notice of.…
