They begin to hunt, explore and build shelter knowing they may be there awhile. Without the adults to guide the children, they begin to wreak havoc. For example,"Kill the pig!Cut his throat!Kill the pig!Bash him in!"(Golding 101).Humans inherit evil, but it takes a certain even to let it out. When the boys kill pigs for food, they let out their evil. Boys turn to savages and mad men, disrupting the entire system of civilization. A person's environment is irrelevant, it is the events that lead to it that will create rage. For example,"There are, for instance, conditions in which cruelty seems to flourish, which is different from saying that it has clear causes. What are these conditions? Chaos is one, fear is another."(Why Boys Become Vicious). There are certain instances or events that bring this evil. This shows it doesn't matter what environment you are in, it is the…
We all have an inner evil, and not all of us know how to handle it. The difference from that inner evil and innocence is a choice.…
Martin Luther King Jr. once said “He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.” Evil comes in many forms resembling events like terrorist attacks and crimes such as burglaries, rapes, hit and runs, plus more. No matter how small the evil may seem it always has its companion, fear. Fear is able to consume even the smallest of children and make evil seem much more extreme than it has to be. Evil is something that you can overpower or it can overpower you no matter the age in the novels Lord of the Flies, I am Malala, and the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.…
Children and young people learn their attitudes from the grown-ups around them at an early age and we may all have ways of thinking and acting that may seem…
Television is no longer censored the way it once was; killing, stabbings and guns are being displayed on these media devices. Allowing the youth access to these horrible acts. Growing up children are little sponges that absorb everything; they hear and see. Mininking what they have heard and seen when they get older. Cutting back on the amount of hours spent on media devices, will cut youth violence.…
People often act in strange ways to certain things. Fear and Chaos can lead to cruelty and violence referring to ones instincts. Children who are confused, scared or have a sudden loss of civility are often led to violence. Boys that are treated poorly by parents may at times channel this fear or anger into other people. Without civility in every day life people will no matter the circumstances go wrong, children in the same case are more easily misled and can be turned away from everything that they good in…
Humans are capable of many things, including evil. We are not perfect we are built on our flaws. But the evil…
A juvenile commits a crime because their world revolves around crime and violence. Not only is it that a juvenile might have been raised surrounded by violence, but as well as abuse inside the house and even at school. In a article entitled "Phil Chalmers Says He's America's Leading Juvenile Homicide Expert” published by Newsweek, discuses the situation of trying to stop school shootings and what makes a teenager do such acts. It brings up a point from Phil Chalmer, a leading juvenile homicide expert, that “kids kill for 10 reasons: an abusive home life and bullying; violent entertainment and pornography; anger, depression and suicide; drug and alcohol abuse; cults and gangs; easy access to and fascination with deadly weapons; peer pressure; poverty and a criminal lifestyle…”(Victoria Bekiempis). Most of the reasons why a juvenile commits a crime is because they are influenced by their experiences, while adults have another reason to commit a crime. Chalmer contimues to add on that there are different types of killer youths and that based on their reasons, it reflects what type of killer they are, which can range from a family killer to a thrill killer. It is easy to influence a youth to do such crimes, but is also easy to change them into not commitng the same crime. People do not consider that the youth are a victim of many violence situations, including terrorism. When an…
“It is guns, it is poverty, it is overcrowding, and it is the uniquely American problem of a culture that is infatuated with violence. We love it, we glamorize it, we teach it to our children”(Surette). This demonstrates that our youth and armed aggression is not an American cultural right, and will determine the media's ultimate relationship to youth and violence. We must as a society address everything we can, such as economic inequities, the gun culture, and the glamorization of violence. And, by a slow, painful, generational process of moral leadership and example, we must work to modify the individual, family, and neighborhood factors that violently predispose…
Abuse and bullying can have long term effects on children and they can suffer severe psychological damage that can have…
For thousands of years in the history of human development, ideologists argued about whether the evil side of human nature is inborn or not. This book, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, showed a great example that the evil side is inherent, no matter what we do, we cannot destroy it., rules and education can only hide it up. This kind of evil is show by the form of destroying, and not doing what they should do. This idea go against with the Chinese base knowledge about moral------human is born pure and harmless.…
As an example, children are not evil, they can learn to be evil, but they are not that way from birth. In “The Roots of Evil” Sharon Begley says “He nailed the explanation for evil committed by children: without intending to trivialize the enormity of their acts, one must conclude that in many cases they literally didn’t know any better” (Begley 14). Even when children do commit evil acts it is usually not intentional or they did not know any better as Begley stated. Although evil is learned over time, people’s natural reaction is still to do good not evil. In “The Man in the Water” the man gave up his life in order to save others, he was tempted by evil but still chose to do good. Rosenblatt states in “The Man in the Water”: “For its part, nature cared nothing about the five passengers. Our man, on the other hand, cared totally” (Rosenblatt 2). The man could have easily given in and saved himself, however he restrained himself and cared about the lives of the other people in the…
We cannot stop our children from eventually learning about the existence of violence, drugs or guns. We can try and make their surroundings safer, but with so much technological advances theres nothing kids can’t google today. Which is why we must…
The author Dave Grossman, in his essay “We Are Training Kids To kill, talking about how he believes that media and modern day technology and violent video games are reasons for child violence worldwide. Grossman goes on to relate and use his experience in the military to the violence in the youth and younger generation as emphasis. In the article Grossman is very disturbed regarding today’s youth. He starts off by mentioning about the cluster of suicides that occurred in the 1970’s due to local TV reporting numerous teen suicides. This led to numerous copycat suicides by teenagers that had seen the stories on the news. Once they researched this and discovered the rises in suicides were linked to the news articles, the networks pulled it from the air. As a result, the suicide numbers went down. Grossman goes on to say that the average child watches way too much TV in the home on a weekly basis. So they learn more from TV than they do their parents and teachers combined. Due to this fact, we need to be careful what we put on TV. Children are very impressionable and vulnerable and can be persuaded very easily by what they see.…
Some of the charges brought against modern youth are that they represent a rudderless generation without any ideals to live by or cause to live for. They are afflicted with compulsive irreverence which manifests itself in increasing defiance of parental authority and revolt against established social norms. On the slightest pretext they take to streets, indulging in violence. They want to attract attention through unconventional behavior. They are becoming a generation of drug addicts and have developed an aversion to honest hard work, ever on the look out to have something for nothing. Its no longer anxious youth going forth, into a hostile world. Now its hostile youth going forth into an anxious world this is not sure what to expect from it.…
