At the time, my sister was attending Kennesaw State University and I had no intentions of following in her footsteps there. I loved the small town atmosphere of Dahlonega and how it was not too far from home but not right around the corner. My friends who also went with me that day may have also had some influence on me going to school here. However; choosing a major was not as easy as choosing where I wanted to attend school at. I always played school growing up, waking up at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday just so I could replay the school day with my imaginary class and the whiteboard I so dearly loved. I struggled my first two years at deciding when I finally decided I would just choose nursing. After the countless hours in the chemistry lab, all nighters studying molecules and bonds and the dread to attend Anatomy class, I came to the conclusion that a nursing degree was not the degree for me. The following summer, I got the chance to work at a special needs camp for eight weeks. I instantly fell in love with these children and all their different personalities; especially one child named Malachi. He was a six year old boy who was non-verbal and had the speech of an eighteen-month hold. Through the course of the summer, I watched Malachi make such minute progress, but I was instantly intrigued by what was going on in his brain. I decided then that I wanted to be a Speech Therapist and would get my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood. I would then make my way to graduate school to earn my degree in Speech…

I really like my school since I like to “learn” but I hate studying and homework…yeah I really do. But I think that the thing I hate the most is waking up at 5:00am on the morning to catch the bus and arrive early to the school. You can say that’s the most frustrating thing in my life since I’m someone who needs his sleep to feel “fresh”. My favorite subject is “Biology” since I find life so interesting. When we were first introduced to the class in 10th grade it was easy to me to understand it and everyone always asked me to help them whenever they had a doubt. When I realize how much I liked the human body, I decided I wanted to be a doctor. I first wanted to be a “Traumatologist” ( the doctor who usually fix bones and organs) but when I saw all the little procedures in order to successfully perform the surgery I changed my mind and decided to study “ Internal medicine” (which applies the same years of study, and what I like about it, is that I detect the problems and “fix” the problems before the patient needs any drastic treatment). I sometimes think I’m a coward because I don’t think I could carry the hopes of people waiting for me to save a person’s life, is just too much for…

I would like to transfer once I get my associate degree at a community college because I feel I am ready to move forward with my education. I currently am enrolled at Cabrillo Community College, which is, for the most part, a transfer prep college. Community College has prepared me to study at a University and I hope to continue my studies as far as I can go. As I grew up, I was interested in a wide range of subjects and never found one thing I was truly passionate about. When I started at community college, I was set on a computer science major because I knew I was computer proficient and enjoyed spending my free time figuring out programs. I struggled a great deal in the major. As I realized that I was not passionate about programming, I…

I hoped to gain a better knowledge of my least favorite subject to better prepare me for college and was not disappointed. It was the hardest class I’ve ever taken. I stayed awake late week nights to study. I was making Cs on tests for the first time, and I became discouraged at times. When I realized that I would not ‘get by’’ without a better study method, I forced myself to develop a more vigorous work ethic. It was miserable yet wonderful because in the long run I learned just how much I could achieve through determination.…
