Who I Am- Essay
Have you ever listened to music? If you have, you know what it’s like to feel the drum beat, to identify the instruments, and to pick a favorite genre. My life is like music, it’s sometimes slow and smooth, and sometimes it’s loud and sloppy. Music on a page looks like lines and scribbles. It looks like instruments. It feels like wood, plastic, or metal. It sounds like rock, pop, hip hop, rap, country, techno, and even classical. It’s the sound of a squeak of an instrument, the beat of a drum, or the crash of a cymbal. Everything about me is like a music or an instrument. I am tall and skinny, like the clarinet. Everyone recognizes me by my features. I am loud and energetic, like the guitar. I love to talk and sing and shout. I come from a family of four, so making noise can be fun, and I can make all the noise I want. I am loyal and wise, like the piano. I am always there for my friends with my advice and sense of humor and my personality is easily recognized. I use my wisdom and loyalty a lot, just like in classical music. I am not quiet, conceited, or graceful. So, I am nothing like a flute or a violin. I don’t like it when others put themselves first in their lives. I like to think of others before myself , and I have a problem being quite and graceful. I am too loud to be quiet all of the time, especially when I am with my friends. I am not graceful at all, and when I try to be graceful, I end up falling or hurting myself. I hope to be like a piece of sheet music, either classical or contemporary. I like to have different emotions, even in the most ominous of times. I like the rise in tempo as the music builds and the decrease of tension as the music ends. I love the sweet sound of the music, and I hope to be dynamic, like a piece of music. I hope to have some tricky emotions, just as sheet music has tricky chords or harmonies. As I listen to the music of my life, I think about my personalities through music a lot. My life isn’t just like music,

Music has always been a part of us ever since the begging of time. It’s been with us threw the happy, great times and also for the not so happy bad times. It can be a cheerful, carefree, joyful beat, to gloomy, mournful, blue beat, but not everyone has the same taste in music. Music it’s self is unbelievably stunning and so breathtaking.…

My identity is music. Music is an open window into which we are. One only has to look through this window to see our moods, personality, and our hopes and dreams. When looking through this open window, I see myself caught in waves of sorrow in my own life. In between the phrases of music, my life is being told.…

My life sounds like a lot of things, the sound of my kitten making strange noises because she doesn’t meow, the sound of my brothers chasing each other up the stairs, and the sound of my entire family having dinner at my house for a special occasion. But, those aren’t the only sounds. I have grown up in a household where music has always existed. In every car ride there was always music. That's what I remember most about my childhood, is the music that we listened too. There were memories that had nothing to do with them of course, but there are many small memories that are centered around a certain song that we'd all dance and sing to. The song itself isn't what's special, it's the memories that go along with it.…

As a little girl I wanted to be just like Hannah Montana. As I got older, I wanted to be like Rachel Berry, a small town girl living out a big town dream. I wanted to be looked up to because of my musical talent. Walking into Mrs. Kaiser's 7th hour, 8th grade band, I didn't know that music would have such an impact in my life. Music has become the spark of my intellectual curiosity. There are millions of combinations of key signatures, chords, melodies and rhythm in the world of music just waiting to become attached to a sheet of staff lines and spaces. Ever since my first experience with music in the fourth grade, my mind began to explore all these combinations of problems. Music helped me with math, english and gave me a place to escape when I was put into undesirable situations. In Middle…

I had always loved music. My parents once told me I sang before I spoke, I played piano before I could ride a bike. I listened to everything from mariachi music to soft jazz. For me, there are secrets hidden in the melody of a song, filling me with a need to decode it. That was why I had always loved to play and related to my old piano teacher, Rachel, who felt the same as I did.…

I chose this picture of me playing trumpet because it reflects upon my most primordial activity, music. By any means I am not the best at playing the trumpet, but I find it to be one of my more enjoyable hobbies. I listen to music constantly, whether I'm studying for a test, reading a book, hanging out with friends, I'm usually always indulged in some sort of music(mostly classical music). Music to me is like an adventure, travelling through a variety of emotions the composer lays out ahead of you. I am so grateful for music, without music I don't know what I would do with…

As I write this, I am listening to the newest album by one of my favorite artists. I am captivated by its simplicity and its complexity at the same time, and what I mean by that is there is so much effort put into producing music; trial and error and hard work is put into every song I’ve ever heard on the radio. It’s an incredibly long process, for me it’s also incredibly difficult. However, hearing something so simple as a random song on the radio can be enough to change a moment, and alter my life. I came to love all music, so I took a theory course where I immersed myself in every aspect of music theory I never knew existed. I believe that I will always pursue this dream of music, whether I make a career out of it or simply keep it as a hobby is yet to be determined, but for right now I know that it is how I spend my time, and how I wish to spend my…

    My Life as a Soundtrack

Sometimes I wonder what my life would be like if there was to be a soundtrack playing in the background of it all. The soundtrack would just continue to play making sure to capture every moment in my life a significant one. When approaching a crush the soundtrack would be sure to pick a song that explained exactly how I was feeling, or on the days when nothing seems to be going my way, music that I like to call “thinking music” would continually play. Although having a soundtrack playing in the background of my life is an impossible idea to happen, there are still those certain songs that seem to sing in my head for every moment I have experienced in my life. From the days that seem perfect, to the days that have never ending misfortunes, there is almost one song to capture and describe every single one of the moments.…
