What Does Adversity Mean To Me
Malcolm X once said "There is no better than adversity. Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time." I like to live by this quote because I believe people can learn from every experience or tragedy they face in life. Also, Malcolm X is one of my many idols and inspirations. In my spare time, I like to listen to music or play basketball. I look at music as the most cryptic art form. People may interpret music however he or she wants; There is no definite meaning behind music. My favorite artists are J. Cole and Nas. These two can put an image in your head through their lucid storytelling and make it easy to relate to. Basketball has been an interest of mine for most of my life. My favorite players are Jason Williams, Tracy McGrady, and Michael Jordan. Those players are an inspiration to me because they truly came from nothing, and made it by following their dreams. My family is also very important to me. I have two older brothers, their names are Shaun and Gabe. Shaun is a cook at Olive garden and Gabe is currently enrolled at …show more content…
I am very intelligent and can do math problems in my head a lot faster than everyone else. Likewise, I am a very talented writer and I have a diverse vocabulary. I used to get honor roll all the time, until I got to high school, now I get Bs and Cs. I like to play all the sports in the book. The sport I am best at is basketball. I got the best handles in the county and my jumper has been compared to Steph Curry. Likewise, I am also very good at football. My hands are unreal; I do not drop anything. Nobody can strap me, and even if they try, they get burnt like a cookie in the oven too long. Not to mention, I also have very blue eyes, they kind of look like the ocean and the sky conjoining into one. One may think that I am boasting, but I am just simply telling people my best

This quote can be applied to many different circumstances in your life. This is why I believe it stands out so much to me. When I first read this quote I thought about football, but then I started thinking about it in a more broad perspective. If you apply it to your job, family, sports, etcetera, it all comes back to what the quote clearly states, no matter what the situation you always have a chance to succeed. Even when you think you've hit rock bottom, if you work to better yourself and your circumstances then you have succeeded. I also see it as when others think you've failed, you can truly judge yourself on how you respond. I always judged success on winning or…

He also thrives to help people even if it's with school work, personal problems, or on the basketball court. I’m a very quick learner. If I struggle with getting a technique down the first few times, I quickly adapt to find a way to make it work for me (I do this quite often in my guitar class). I’m a very passionate person when I believe in something strongly enough, I will defend my opinion and try to get others to see the situation in the same light that I do. I’m also a very creative and artistic person; I love art, drawing, and music. I may not necessarily be the best at drawing, singing or playing my guitar, but I love to do it anyway because it makes me happy, especially when I can hear/see my improvement.…
