Blame for Romeo and Juliet’s Death

In my opinion, the blame goes to the characters that supported and didn’t support Romeo and Juliet. Especially, Lord Capulet, Lady Capulet, Friar Lawrence, Nurse and fate. Juliet’s parents have an important role for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. As the mother of Juliet, Lady Capulet is meant to comfort Juliet. Instead of doing that, she abandons Juliet in the middle of suffering. Lord Capulet acted harsh when Juliet expressed her opinion over Paris. Both of Juliet’s parents deserted her in a challenging situation. Friar Lawrence tried to bring an end to the grudge between the two families by helping Romeo and Juliet get married. Many blame Romeo and Juliet for the choices that they make. However can you blame someone for trying to find a way out when forced into a corner? The choices and actions of other characters in Romeo and Juliet forced Romeo and Juliet into the positions they are in. Into positions where they feel there is nowhere to go but up to heaven in death. The two perpetrators most responsible for this are Friar Laurence and Lord Capulet. For our first character to blame will be Tybalt and his death. Tybalt is one to blame for Romeo and Juliet's death because of his bad temper and the family feud between his family( The Capulets) and the montagues( Romeo’s family). So as Tybalt's bad temper gets him at the Capulet party, He sees Romeo roaming around the party he was not officially invited to. Tybalt runs off and tell his uncle about this commotion and his uncle just told him to leave him alone but that’s not what Tybalt did. “Patience perforce with willful choler meeting makes my flesh tremble in their different greeting. In William Shakespeare’s play Romeo & Juliet we look at two star-crossed lovers, from opposite sides of an ancient grudge in the town of Verona and their struggle between fate and freewill. Shakespeare deliberately creates characters that can be held accountable for the tragic deaths of the central roles. Their untimely demise can be attributed to four contributing factors: The poor advice of Friar Lawrence and the Nurse, the two feuding households, the impulsive behaviour of our chief protagonists and the cruel bitter irony of fortune.…

Many events occur that lead to their deaths. Also, many characters have performed specific actions that push these two lovers closer towards their death. I believe the people in Romeo and Juliet’s lives helped cause their death. One person who helps cause their death was Tybalt. I think he helped cause their death because if he would have stopped trying to fight Romeo, then Romeo wouldn’t have killed him. If Romeo wouldn’t of killed him, then Juliet’s parents wouldn’t of rushed her into marrying Paris, then she wouldn’t of came to Romeo’s father talking about killing herself. Friar Laurence also helped with their deaths because he is the one who gave Juliet the sleeping potion, which made Romeo think he was dead. These are the people I think helped cause Romeo and Juliet’s…

Juliet is also to blame because she know what to do and what she is told. Juliet wrote a quote because she's being impatient before she falls dead in the tomb. “Shall i not then be stifled in the vault, to whose foul mouth no health some air breathes in, and there die strangled enemy Romeo Doesn't” . Juliet is impatient and talks to herself in which she doesn't know what's going on and disobeys. As much as Romeo and Laurence causes problems, Juliet does more as being stubborn.…

Death is and always will be a hard topic to talk about, especially when someone is to blame. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, many characters could take responsibility for the deaths of the young lovers, but who is ultimately to blame? In my opinion, Romeo is the main cause of their deaths. He rushed into marriage without thinking ahead as to what they would do or tell their rival families. He then got himself banished from Verona for killing Tybalt, and lastly, instead of moving on from Juliet, he killed himself.…

They each contributed to the problem in some way. The prince says “Capulet, Montague, see what a scourge is laid upon your hate,” (pg 130) implying that the fault lays in the feud. However, the servants reigniting the feud, Juliet and especially Romeo rushing their love, Lord Capulet’s stubbornness, Friar Lawrence’s needlessly complicated plan, and many other characters’ flaws are all to blame. Some have varying extents of blame, for example even though Romeo and Juliet rushed their love, teenage hormones are a reasonable excuse for this so some of the blame can be alleviated from them. Whereas the feud between the two families is the obstacle that made Romeo and Juliet’s love complicated to begin with, which puts more of the blame on the heads of the households. But in general, everyone can be said to have some amount of blame for the death of Romeo and…
