Who Do You Think Would Come To Our Funerals?
“ Who do you think would come to our funerals?” I turn to my cousin, Rehmah, and ask her while cracking all of the knuckles in my right hand, and then my left. I can’t hear them crack because of the loud screaming and the mechanics in the background. I looked around and the walls were purple with Sonic characters on it. The ceiling was so high up gladly because then we would’ve disintegrated. “My family, your family, all of your grandparents, all of my grandparents, all of your second, first and everyone other cousin you have, and all of mine...and probably even some of the ‘ I have known you since you were this small’ people,” she said in the most sarcastic voice ever; it almost sounded serious.

We ran backwards, but the gorilla followed us. Zain took off his shoe and threw it at the gorilla. He dodged it. All three of us tried running back further, but the lights were shut so we couldn’t see anything. We were sitting against a corner now, all hunched up together. Our heads were going to touch a skeleton that was dangling on top of us. I could feel tears forming in my eyes, and that’s when I heard laughter. I looked at Rehmah, and then Zain, they were also on the verge of crying, so I knew they weren’t pulling a prank on me. I got up and noticed the gorilla wasn’t a gorilla anymore. It turned out to be the person in charge of the haunted house in a gorilla mask. I was relieved and mad; I was glad it was just him. We headed outside. I could see the lights from inside the ride, reflecting off of the polished floor. I was so relieved, that it was over. I kept thinking about all the nightmares I was going to have; I was not looking forward to …show more content…
I couldn’t tell whether she appreciated the experience or was about to kill me for making her do this. “ Whatever it was, it was an….interesting experience,” even though I really enjoyed the ride, I said it with a hint of uncertainty in my voice. “Interesting?!?!?” I got scared not wanting to know what she was going to say after the pause, “ ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? THAT WAS EPIC!! I mean sure I was about to puke the first time, but then I let loose and I was about to fall over and gosh was that fun. All my weight was on the seat belt and I imagined myself hanging from it if the seat belt opened….” she went on; her reply was definitely NOT what I was expecting.
“ OMG NO WAY THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I IMAGINED!!!” I said relieved she wasn’t going to kill me.
Once we did, we explained everything from beginning to end adding stuff we forgot in the middle. They looked so overwhelmed, for we were talking so fast only stopping for a second to breathe. It was still hard to believe we had just experienced going upside down. It probably didn’t seem like a big deal, but to us it was. We had never done anything like that before. EVER. I was glad we were together to experience

The protagonist, Enoch Emery, feels that the world is against him. In the beginning of the story, he borrowed an umbrella from an old lady, only to discover that it’s broken. For Enoch, the umbrella represented a means of protection against the negativity of his surroundings. Yet, much like most of the things in his life, the umbrella failed him. Enoch later meets the famous “Gonga the Gorilla”, or more accurately, a man in a gorilla costume. Enoch is plagued by his antisocial behavior and pessimism. Afflicted by the dreary conditions of his life, he set out to find his identity, only to discover it in stealing Gonga’s gorilla costume. When wearing the costume, he became someone else, feeling the happiest as no one could identify him as Enoch Emery. The gorilla costume symbolizes an escape from his troubles; however, even with his new identity, Enoch is ostracized. When he tried to shake the hands of a pair of strangers, similarly to the behavior of the famous Gonga, his attempt was met with screams. The story ends on this disturbing note, leaving the reader perplexed by the depressing state of the…

One snatched his mountain of paperwork, and the other two escorted him hastily out of the odd smelling room. They guided Harambe down a long hallway, which smelled strongly of dark bitter coffee. The officers crammed him into a tiny old rickety elevator, and hit the “G” button. Each second on the elevator passed ever so slowly, and the perpetual sense of getting trapped became more and more plausible. Finally, the rusted elevator doors creaked open, and copious amounts of sunlight flooded each of their eyes. They blindly stumbled out onto the busy sidewalk of…
