Where I Am Not Reading
Where I am now as a reader is I am not reading a lot ,I am only reading for 20 minutes not pushing myself to do more and, It takes me a long time to read the book that I am reading.

Where I see myself now is when I look at my reading log I am not reading a lot at home or during the intervention time. When I read at home, every day right after I do all my other homework I read, but, sometimes I read right before I go to bed. When I read at home, I only read the required 20 minutes not pushing myself to do more. When I read at home, I read about 4 or 5 pages and during the intervention time I also read 4 or 5 pages. I have not abandoned any books yet. When I start reading a book it takes me about 2 ½ to 3 weeks to complete the book I am reading.

Where I see myself in the future is I hope to read more and more at home,

I hope during the intervention time I read more than 4 or 5 pages I should read 12 or more.I hope in the future I will realise if a book is not a “just right” book I should abandoned it. I hope in the future I will read a whole book in a week or two. When choosing a just right book I hope I will know what strategies to use to know if my book is a just right book or not. I hope I can turn off my distracting voice and hear my interacting voice clearly. I hope using post it notes will help me think about what I am thinking and help

But I really fell behind in seventh grade when I was in Mr. Green’s class. Ms. Green was a strange teacher, she almost always ignored the girl students but gave the guys a little too much attention. Long story short, she crept out all the guys who had her and pissed off all the overachieving girls who asked a lot of questions and thrived off teachers' advice. We had SSR time every day, but the vibe in the room was always tense and a little awkward, which made it really hard to get wrapped up in a good story. We all ended up just skimming the pages and passing notes or doing other homework. Once I got out of the habit of reading I kept making excuses, saying I was “too busy” or “they're no books that look interesting to me.” If I really think about it, seventh grade wasn’t the only thing that broke my good habit of reading. Some fault lies with me for just being lazy and not setting aside time in the day for me to pick up a book and get lost in…

I already use some of these techniques, before I even start reading, I always skim through the book to see what topics are in it and know what I am about to read. Every time that I am about to read a textbook, I make sure that I have a highlighter, to highlight the most relevant parts of the book and a notebook to take notes for myself about what I am reading or summarize a paragraph. It is time consuming but at the end very beneficial, for me anyway.…

Although there is much I can’t recall from my early days of reading, there are some momentous flashbacks. When I was beginning elementary school my parents were very eager to introduce me to doing a great deal of reading, they wanted me to enjoy reading for a while and they succeeded. We lived within walking distance of the public library which allowed us to frequently visit the library to read and check out books. I always remembered the vast shelves of books that seemed like they never had an end. In addition to reading at the library we checked books out to bring home to read, this allowed me to read as much as I wanted to. Correspondent to the amount of reading I did, the more I enjoyed it and improved at reading.…

During my weekly readings I start by previewing and scanning information. I read titles and the beginning sentences to get a brief description of what it may be saying and realizing if I know the information or not. I take notes from each section and review the information throughout the week. I highlight information I believe to be important and useful towards discussion questions and assignments and or exams. Also I find a nice secluded area that way I can focus all of my attention towards my readings and fully understand what I am reading and apply it when needed.…

In General, The things that make it difficult to read a book is being able to sit and concentrate only on that book, and actually reading it to the point where you know exactly what you’re reading and what’s going on and not forgetting what you read. To me in order to stay totally glued to the book you are reading it has to be something in your genre of choice, stuff that you like to read a lot. The things that made it difficult for me during this quarter and the books that I read was he page number in the books that I read it was almost impossible to finish the books that I had in 2 weeks.
