In the play Macbeth, William Shakespeare introduces Lady Macbeth as ‘Macbeth’s dearest partner of greatness’. As the words ‘I have almost forgot the taste of fears’ echoed in the castle after the queen had died Macbeth cries ‘she should have died hereafter’. Indeed it was a tragedy to see this loving couple go down in pieces. The trust that was implicit between then ended with them dying alone, despising each other and grappling with their own demons. The treachery, betrayal, terror and massacre of the ‘dead butcher’ and ‘fiend like queen’ horrified the audience during the play. Lady Macbeth uses her love for Macbeth to betray their love and manipulate him into going along with his vaulting ambition. With the understanding of his weakness and strengths, tragically to an extent, the relationship between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth was the engine that drove the tragedy and made Scotland a ‘grave’ for all its dwellers.

Macbeth, king of Scotland caused the blood bath hiding most of the deeds from his wife. Not including Lady Macbeth in the actions caused her less pain form everything she had gone through. With the love that every inhabitant wished to have it was a tragedy to see it end on harsh terms. Macbeth did not have the chance to say goodbye as his queen perished.
