For my classics book project, I read a book called: “The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy”, written by Douglas Adams . The book is about how little we humans know about the universe, and what things may be out there that we don’t even know of. It starts by following a man named Arthur Dent. He is an ordinary man living a normal life. One day a friend of his, Ford Prefect, tells him the world is going to end. Arthur doesn’t believe him. Later that day the earth is exploded by alien spaceships. Arthur and Ford are the only survivors, only because Ford Prefect wasn’t a human after all. He was a galactic traveller/hitchhiker working on a book, called “the Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy”, and he was able to save himself and Arthur. Even though experiencing things through books can be great, there are some things that can be just as good, or even better to do in real life. Reading a fiction book can prepare you for a situation, but it will always be different in real life. Therefore, there can be smart to try and do things yourself as well, instead of experiencing it by reading. An example is if you read a book about someone dying, you might think you know how to react or how it will feel, but it may be better to find out yourself how you will react to the situation.
Some literature is made to be enjoyable. Of course, you can enjoy learning new things by reading factual prose or experiencing things in books. Some literature however is constructed for the sole purpose of being enjoyable to read. Most of these are fiction prose. Many of these books/texts also mixes with experiencing new things, because that often can be enjoyable as well. An example of a type of literature many people enjoy are crim novels.
