Buck was a better leader of the dog pack than Spitz because he was able to bring out the best in his fellow dogs as well as return peace to the pack.

In the Call of the Wild Buck feuded with Spitz from the first day he joined the dog pack, his main problem with Spitz started after Spitz laughed when Curly was brutally attacked by a large group of huskies. Throughout the book both Buck and Spitz have been open with how much they dislike the other, however it was Spitz who would constantly act on it making Buck angry, because Spitz was the pack leader and Buck was a relatively new dog he couldn't do anything to prevent Spitz from harassing him.Spitz would constantly steal Bucks sleeping locations and food as well as try to start a fight whenever

I feel the events in the book where buck is with the team contributes to his character and helps him learn to survive. Referring to when buck killed Spritz, he learned that he must kill or be killed when he is provoked by someone with bad intentions. After interactions such as this Buck knows that when someone else like Spritz shows up he knows to raise his suspicions before its too late. In Part 1 it says he took pride in the manner of Dave and Sol, and seeing that his mates, whether they prided it or not, did their fair share lived a monotonous life, operating with machine-like regularity. Every day was like another, all of the sled dogs persisted even under there bad circumstances, much so that Buck did the same. Buck struggled whether he…

Being a natural-born leader, Buck was the one to oppose Spitz and, in the end, defeat him. Having a problem and taking it out can be the key to success in some cases, and beating that problem of Spitz made Buck stronger and also made him the leader in little bits and pieces before becoming the actual leader. Being the leader of the dog team helped everyone greatly.“The general tone of the team picked up immediately. It recovered its old time solidarity, and once more the dogs leaped as one dog in the traces”(London 76). This shows that Buck was the catalyst of change in some people’s…

What is a leader, you may ask. It is a person you can depend on to lead and make the right decisions for your group’s ultimate survival. In the book The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a group of boys crash land onto a deserted island. They elect Ralph to be their leader to ensure order on the island, but the boy’s civilization on the island is slowly falling apart. Ralph is losing control of everyone and the island is becoming extremely chaotic. I believe that Piggy would be better suited as a leader than any other boy on the island, including Ralph. Piggy is intelligent, caring, mature and civilized, which are qualities every great leader must have for the survival of a group in a time of crisis.…

What is a leader? In times of crisis the ultimate survival of a group depends on the leader, or person who steps forward to take control, direct others, and maintain order. Although in today's society people are judged based on their appearance, looks have no influence on whether or not a person is capable of being a successful leader. Instead, good leadership is based on the individual skills and traits that the person possesses. The character of Piggy in William Golding'sLord of the Flies is a perfect example of a person who may not be the best looking physically, but who despite this has the right qualities to be an excellent leader. Piggy is by far the smartest person in the group, as well as the most patient, and the most rationale. It is these three traits that define him as the best leader for the group.…
