Contemporary dance is a style that lets you express yourself, has a lot of versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict and structured nature of ballet. Contemporary dance focuses on floorwork, using gravity to pull dancers down to the floor. Contemporary dance can be performed to many different styles of music. We use ‘lazy’ movements to dance through the stage during the slower songs (Drake), and fast, sharp movements when big beat drops occur (Justin Bieber).
