What Does It Mean To Be An Adult Essay
When are you considered an “Adult”?
When are you considered an “Adult”? There are many factors that people have that classify you as an adult. These things are age, the way you at, how you speak, if you are mature, and many more things. But what does it really mean to be an “adult”? I believe to be an adult means you are responsible, your age, trustworthy and mature.
I believe to be considered an adult you need to be responsible. In becoming an adult there are many things in life that you need responsibility for. For example going to college, getting a job, paying bills, taking care of kids if you wish to have any, ect. College is not somewhere you go to have parties and just be able to tell all the crazy college stories. This is your whole future and college is not cheap if you wish to get into college, you will probably need loans you need to have good credit and be responsible for everything you do. Jobs are not going to hire you if they know that you are lazy and don’t show up or if they feel like you are not responsible, and if you get the job you will not keep it. Kids are a big responsibility too, they are not something you can have for a period of time and

Sometime there is age requires to be an “adult”. For example you need 18 to smoke and vote, 21 to drink alcoholic beverages, 16 for a driver license. This rules/requirements are do not really consider you an adult they are there for safety reason. I feel that you are consider and adult when you show the characteristics of being and adult. I feel that when you can be responsible and mature about things is when you can be considered an adult not by your age. Age is just a number not an action. Some people believe you are an adult because of your age. They believe the older you are the wiser you are because you have had more life experiences. This is not always true, this is only saying you are wiser in more life situations than they

Some people have different opinion on what makes a person an adult; however here are some of my thoughts on what make a person an adult. In this paragraph we are going to talk about three factors of adulthood: 1. Maturity 2. Respect 3. Responsibility. What is maturity? Maturity is being able to react calmly and mannerly to a problem or situation you have gotten yourself into. You also develop maturity threw your past experience. For example, You and say a co-worker or any other adult are arguing back and forth the mature thing for you to do is find a solution that only not works for you but them as well. This will come to the closing of the argument and you would have been the mature one in the situation. Respect can be defined in a lot of ways. You can’t just be given respect as an adult people have to earn respect. As an adult you should treat other adults with the respect that you want to be treated with. For example if people go around treating other adults as children more than likely you will receive that some action. Another example of Respect would be at your job when your boss tells you to do something even though you prefer not. That is respect for your boss. Last we have Responsibility. What is Responsibility? Responsibility generally comes with adulthood, because once people are consider an adult their parents, teachers, family will accept a lot from them. A good example of responsibility of an adult is having a family and trying to take care of them while trying to maintain your job! Another example would be while at work whatever it is people may do for a living for insistent I work at a childcare my responsibility there is to watch the kids, change their diapers every 5 minutes, clean the toys and the room. There is Responsibility in everything that we do in life. So how do you decide what makes a person an adult well maybe some of…

I however consider myself a responsible and mature person to be my age. I am very strong willed and determined to get the job done at all cost no matter how many obstacles may get in my way. I also try to help others as well. I like helping others if they are willing to accept my help. Just by my personal ethics from my classmates, family, and co-workers perspective they probably would say I am a good all-around person as well as a good role model to help others with their personal ethics and goals.…

By definition, in America you’re legally an adult when you turn 18. Although some will say it’s later or earlier because you can get your permit at 16, but you need to wait until you’re 21 to drink. Others will say that it’s about superficial things like losing your virginity, getting married, having kids, smoking, and cursing. Although intangible, I believe coming of age is defined by character.…

According to Vogel this suggestion, many people would make the argument that teens are not in full control of their actions due to immaturity and lack of knowledge of the world (Vogel, 1994). However, the government has already deemed this age group able to have a job or drive a car. Think about it, how is it that these people that the government puts responsible in some ways are suddenly too immature to realize that they are pointing a gun at someone or physically or sexually assaulting another human being well that is where society is wrong in believing they are mature. Where is the magical line drawn that says one teen is responsible and mature and another is not? The truth is that state and federal guidelines simply attach an age to privileges. Why is it not such a simple process for determining if someone is of legal age to stand adult trial, I will tell you why because society wants to give them another chance to regain their mentality? Another concern that opponents of sending juveniles to adult court for violent crimes would argue is that these “kids” are not in control of their actions or responsible for their crimes because they have been in poor home and…

    Becoming an Adult

People never seem to quite understand the meaning of being an “adult”. I myself am not very sure of the full meaning of it. It has always seemed to me that age is irrelevant. You can be 12 and understand things better than a 30-year-old or you can be 40, have two PhD’s and still wonder if pigeons are migratory birds. Many people my age think that getting out of their parents’ house is an act of maturity but how does changing your situation prove that you are an “adult”? If they run away from home it is more likely to lose themselves trying to cope alone and underprepared with the difficulties in life. To become an adult you must achieve a separate identity. Still everyone perceives the world and every thought in it through their own consciousness.…
