What Does Hope Mean To Me Essay
Hope is more than a blessing than a curse. As a matter of fact, it is more than just a blessing. Hope gives people so many positive things in life, like something to look forward to, or something to cheer them up, or even a reason to be alive in this world. These are just a few of the many things that hope does, and has done for people throughout history. I believe that hope mostly serves as something to give someone something to look forward to in life. I believe this because of the many encounters with hope that I have had in my life. One of these times was last year when the Brunswick Boys Varsity Lacrosse team was heading to the state championship game at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland, Maine. I had been wishing that the team, which just so happened to have both of my brothers on it, along with my dad, would make it to that game, and now that they were there, …show more content…
This is the second most important quality that hope has, to me. I know that this is an important quality of hope because of the common goals that humans hope to happen, such as growing up and marrying a very special significant other and having kids of your own, or going to school and becoming very smart and hard working so that you will go far in life and be very successful when you get out of school. You see, all those life goals and any other specific one that one person has for themself is a display of how hope gives people something to live for. I also can prove this because of how in movies and other things that i've witnessed or seen in my short, little life, when the person loses hope, they just give up on everything and decide to die or not be happy. I see this over and over in movies where there is an character with cancer or some other life threatening disease and the loved ones that they are fighting for dies or the thing that the person is fighting for goes away stops being there and the person with cancer stops fighting because their lack of

Have you ever been hopeful, even when it seemed your hope was hopeless? Hope is something all humans share whether it be for a better life or for a different path. All humans have something that resembles hope. It almost seems that humans love to tell others how hope has helped them survive troubling times. For centuries mankind has been drawn to literature about the underdog overcoming odds because we as a species enjoy seeing the little guys win. Three pieces of literature in particular come to mind when speaking of hope and how it fills mankind with a fight for survival. The books, Night by Eliezer Wiesel, The Glass Castle, By Jeannette Walls, and Red Rising, by Pierce Brown all feature main characters believing in themselves and…

Irish Proverb once said “hope is a physician of misery”. This quote means that the best medicine for any hindrance that you have in your life is hope. I agree with this quote because if you have hope when you’re going through a rough time in your life, you’ll always have something to believe. Two works that support this quote are The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros and Of Mice and Men by John Steinback. Two literary techniques that both of these authors use are irony and characterization.…

The hope of others could give hope to many and be a reason to live for some. Misha, an orphaned boy who has been adopted by a family, encounters a Jewish holiday, but since in the Ghetto there is so little, they are forced to make due with what they have. The father says “We ourselves will be the candle flames.”(161). This makes Misha feel happy. “…I could feel my heart getting warm…” he said on page 161. For a hopeless boy like Misha, the optimism of others gives the boy hope. Without the optimism of the people around him, Misha would be a orphan on the streets with no home, no loved ones, and no reason to live. From having nothing but the…

This idea is demonstrated when hope is never defeated because of support from people with close bonds physically and mentally. In addition, hope can never be defeated since it’s source is from the identity of the person. Last but not least, hope is the last resort that any human can look towards that will also be presented for humanity. Consequently, even if our life appears abject we should live on with a sliver of…

Without hope what would we do? It gets us through our most difficult times, and gives us something to hold onto when there's nothing. Emily Dickinson's Hope is the thing with Feathers describes what hope does for us. The poem's theme is that hope is always there, and gets us though our toughest times, but never asks for anything in return.…

Hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen or desire to trust. In addition, hope refers to African-American slaves wanting to be free or stay alive. Today’s question is hope good or bad, it could easily be both based off the kind of hardship the individual slave endured and how long they have left of slavery based off knowing slavery ended two years after the emancipation proclamation the individual might lose hope but they only had a little while left. For the sake of argument though, I think hope over ally is a good thing because look how far the united states has come and absolutely everything must start somewhere. If slaves were content or happy with slavery would we still believe it was inhumane.…

If we did not have optimism, we would wind up looking at temporary setbacks as unscalable, permanent obstacles. When we don’t have any hope, there is no reason to work hard, to push forward, and to try again. But instead, it is really easier to give up, to give in, and to make do with what is already there.…

Empires can be created, revolutions can begin, all because of a string of hope. Without this emotion, many historical events would not have occurred, such as the Holocaust, one of the most infamous genocides in history. In the book Night, by Elie Wiesel, he writes about the Holocaust and his time in several concentration camps with his father. Hope plays an important part in this story; it became the catalyst of the Holocaust, protected Jewish victims of genocide, and eventually caused the end of WWII.…

Generally speaking, a lack of hope can push an individual down a dark path of risk-taking, deviant, or even criminal behavior. Hope is a critically important positive mind set for people to possess. When one lacks hope, he or she does not care about much in life. If that type of attitude exists, then what stops this individual from doing things that are immoral and criminal? In addition, not being able to hope for or look forward to particular events in the future might lead an individual to act out against others. Again such behaviors are criminal in nature. And finally, the negativity that is associated with a lack of hope in one’s life may lead this person to act out against others who are seen as the cause of it. Unfortunately, a lack of hope just contributes to the increase in crime in America.…
