Because when I came to the United States at a young age I faced a lot challenges and hardships but I decided to keep going and stay resilient. One of the challenges I faced was learning the English language. At the beginning when I arrived the U.S I did know any single word in English and that was upsetting and sad to me because everybody in my school knew how to speak it. English language has always been a difficult language to learn for me. But, I try to not give up and I am improving in it through my diligence. Nevertheless, I was dedicated to develop my English skills through learning and studying new vocabulary words and tried to use them in my daily life dialogues. My growth mindset was pushing me every single day to learn and face my obstacles. I also liked to read a lot of books which improved my reading skills and correspondingly gave me new words and notions. Despite, sometimes I do not understand the senses of the words while reading it I used a dictionary. I listened to music and read the lyrics of the songs because I have told that this is one of the effective methods to learn a language. On the other hand, I have taken plenty of workshops, programs on how to progress in pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. I know learning a language is hard but what it is harder is to not give up and stay focused on my own work. I have failed a lot of times in the past but once I fail I…

Everyone is asked one question, at a very young age. That question is: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” There isn’t a time I can remember when an adult didn’t ask me this question. When I was six, I would respond with the usual movie star, fashion designer, or veterinarian. My answer would be said confidently, as at this age I walked through life as if it were no big deal. My answer occasionally changed to fit with my many childhood phases, but my view on the question stayed the same. When I was a child, I replied to this inquiry the same way everyone else did; I answered with an occupation. It took me years to discover my new approach to this question. My new response did not include my dream job, but how I saw myself in the future.…

Ever since I was a little girl, when asked the pondering question of whom I wanted to become when I grew up, I always found it quite methodical. Now of course, these feelings can't completly be for keeps due to the immense amount of surrounding exposure. Although, I did believe that each individual had been given distict knowledge and ability to make this world per say, your "personal playground"; that of what you believed. As a child, we are all born pure with no predicatable intentions. For it is then, life is simple. It is a perfect place where your imagination get's to create and/or guide you. -Or at least that's what I took from it.…

The bright blue background and High Mountain tops over 10 feet taller than me standing at 5’8’’. The slightly chilly breeze that lightly brushes my skin leaving small goose bumps throughout the surface of my whole body. The sound of the waterfall and view of the lake so translucent I can see the yellow fish all the way to the bottom. The trees singing in the background mimicking the echo of the water. The dirt soft and warm in-between my fingers from the pulsating raises of the sun. The rays drift in and out from the cover of the small puffy white and gray clouds. There is an overview of the city and tiny bugs in my peripheral vision that fly above me, there I sit on the mountain side with only the company of myself. I mentally evaluate my…

Upon being asked about my future, I have always been met with anxiety and fear of such unknown. Growing up, as more and more of my peers developed their specific interests and even revealed desired career choices, I only felt lost in terms of what I wished to purse. I found that I was easily overwhelmed if I allowed myself to read too deeply into the dreaded “what am I going to do with my life” question. I have come to realize that it is much less anxiety provoking, however, if I view this matter on a smaller scale. After all, I do have aspirations and goals that I strive to achieve on a short-term basis.…

I’m often asked the question: “What do you want to do in college?” or “What do you want to do after college?” and these often weary questions always lead back to the one question that I truly struggle with: Where do I see myself in the future? I've always been a worrying person and despite the “what-ifs” that cross my mind from time to time, I try to remember that there are certain things that I can control and many things that I simply can’t, like, whether or not I will see tomorrow.…
