This form of interview can be used when you are seeking an individual’s point of view as opposed to a group. They can be done face to face, over the telephone or through a questionnaire. Normally done if you cannot get your respondents together or if you want answers to remain unaffected or influenced by another person. According to, Szwarc (2005, p.48) they can be either structured or semi-structured although he believes that semi-structured is best to enable you to explore and gather more information if needed.
