West Nile Virus: A Case Study
West Nile virus caused a huge outbreak in 2013 ;this is called a mass hysteria. Mass hysteria is when people think of imaginary or real threats from rumors and lies. West Nile virus causes fever,headaches,body aches and skin rash. The virus is spread by mosquitos which makes it more likely to get infected. People were constantly worried that they or their children will get the virus . This goes along with The Crucible because several people started talking about witchcraft and then it began to spread.The more people spoke of it ,the more they were terrified. The West Nile virus only started because one person overreacted. The Salem Witch Trials happened because one parent overreacted.John Proctor dies because of Abigail,Elizabeth and society.What was the main reasons for John proctor's …show more content…
The court believes John and his wife are lying to save themselves from being hung. Elizabeth found out about the affair .Elizabeth acted cold and abusive towards John. So he went elsewhere to find the love and comfort he wanted.Elizabeth was not happy when she found out about the affair. Things in the house were silent and at times very awkward.
The way society was also caused him problems. Around the town the word of witchcraft has been thrown about. The girls are yelling names and claiming people are witches. Everyone then begins to go to jail and leave their homes. As the people go to jail,the crops begin to die,children run around with no supervision and homes are falling apart.This not only affects John Proctor but everyone else in the town. My conclusion is that rumors get around and cause issues. The whole reason for the Salem Witch Trials was because one person overacted.As one person got hung the rest of them met their demise.Mass Hysteria causes problems world wide.John Proctor didn't deserve what happened to him. He may have cheated on his wife and not went to church, but that doesn't mean he deserved to be

    Proctor’s hubris caused the problem in the first place and this led to his tragic flaw. Proctor believed that he was untouchable; he believed that he could have an affair, but as long as he apologized afterwards, everything would be all right again. But as the play unfolded he soon found out that his life with Elizabeth and life in the village would never be the same again. Proctor’s affair drove Abigail to plot to get Proctor’s wife Elizabeth out of the picture, so that she could take her place. But she was intelligent enough to realize that if she excused the wife of a well-respected man of the village of conspiring with the devil, no one would believe he and she would be thrown in jail for lying to the court. For she has broken the commandment “Thou shalt not bear false witness” and this was as serious a sin as murder. Because of this Abigail decided that if she filled the jails with people not so respected such as tramps no one would notice one more person passing through the courts. Abigail did all this because Proctor had slept with her. This caused her to believe that he made a promise to her by doing so; she believed that if Proctor did not have Elizabeth he would then love her instead. Because Proctor slept with Abigail he did not just cause his own downfall, but also the downfall of others. One thing Abigail did not think would happen and ruined her conspiracy was for Proctor to stand up in court, blacken his name in the village, risk being hanged, and expose her as a harlot she was. Proctor’s proof of this was his statement of “I have known her.” By doing this he ruined his reputation in the village, but Proctor realizes that his reputation was caused by the illusions people had of him and that he was a really a fake. This was one of the noblest things he done during the play when he tired to save others by destroying himself and was one of the turning points in the play. This also meant that…

    The tragic ending in, “The Crucible,” by, Arthur Miller, is inevitable due to cause and affect scenarios throughout the drama: Tituba blaming the devil, Marry Warren giving Elizabeth Proctor a poppet, and John Proctor having an affair with Abigail Williams. In the beginning of the play Tituba had gone with Abigail and the girls in the forest which lead to them getting caught by Reverend Hale.
