Ways of Facilitating Fire Extinguishing Process
Extinguishing a fire is one of the most important duty which firefighters have to do in a fire incident. In the past, it was more difficult for fire fighters to extinguish an incident location specially high buildings because their focus is divided on different missions like evacuating the building from people, extinguishing a fire, trying to extinguishing the fire in less time, and saving life and properties. Thus, they were spending more time in doing different duties before reaching their basic duty that is extinguishing the fire. Nowadays, there are different ways that are applied in a building in cases of spreading a fire which facilitate firefighters duties and make the extinguishing process more easy than before. Two of these helpful ways are the sprinkler system and the fire exit doors. In this paper, I will discuss three main points which are the definition of the sprinkler system and how it works, the importance of sprinkler system in a fire incident, and the benefits of fire exit doors in a fire incident.
The first point I will discuss in this paper is the definition of the sprinkler system and how it work. Based on the free encyclopedia, " A fire sprinkler system is an active fire protection measure, consisting of a water supply system, providing adequate pressure and flow rate to a water distribution piping system, onto which fire sprinklers are connected" (En.Wikipedia.org (1), 2011). Fire sprinkler system is an automatic device which attack the spread of a fire immediately and send a sign to its monitoring company which will report the fire department about the fire incident (Pnwlocalnews.com, 2010). When the temperature degree increases and reached a particular degree in a fired building, the fire sprinkler heads become activated and they deliver a spray of water directly to the intended fired area (Steve Spaulding of Contractor 's staff, 2009). Fire sprinkler systems can be used in factories, schools, companies, hospitals, buildings
