Waterwater Usage In California
A lot of people haven’t took a shower in months because their is no water to use. People can’t shower and wash dishes because the farmers are using too much of the groundwater. I think California should make laws to control the groundwater usage.

California should make regulations for the water usage because eventually we can run out of it. People don’t have wells to get water because they dry up because farmers have been using too much of it. The worst part for Angelica Gallegos is going without a shower for 5 months (source 2).

Steve Arthur goes without sleep because of his drilling company (source 3). Steve sleeps in the back of his truck because he works for a drilling company. He has to drill wells for people because they are desperate

Using something efficiently means to achieve maximum productivity with minimum wasted effort and expenses, but Colorado River water isn’t being used efficiently its being used for absurd reasons like constant water of lawns and crops, washing a car anytime there is a speck of dust, etc. All that time they could’ve used drip irrigations’ for lawns and crops, and had barrels up to catch rain water to clean arbitrary items. Now that years have passed and still no effort to achieve a safe and adaptable way of using such water but only came harm and waste. The People need to be cut off before it’s to late and there isn’t any for anyone in our future generations. If one con not be productive with its resources then they shouldn’t be allowed to use it.…

California has been pushing recycling in the state since 1987 by using the CRV method. CRV is an extra tax citizens of California have to pay once buying bottles and cans, pushing people to go recycle their items and earn back their money. If California’s government start putting more taxes on things being solely affected by climate change, it could help push citizens to help save California. In the article “5 Dramatic ways California is tackling drought”, Erica Gies explains how California’s government is helping control the drought. Gies’s states that the government is in talks of pushing a water tax, causing the Californians over using water to pay more towards California. To this day, California has been in a drought. The governor, Jerry Brown is struggling to create policies to prevent people from using large amounts of water. He has made proposals to reduce the water use in California by building tunnels under the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to increase the supply of water. One of the reasons California is in a drought is because of our history of dealing with the gold miners using hydraulic mining to mine gold, and damming the Tuolumne River to provide water for San Francisco. Although the use of of water has benefitted farmers and cities, it has not been in the best interest of the state because it has harmed the Native Americans and the environment.…

Most notably, Alexis Madrigal, a writer for The Atlantic, brings up some surprising statistics about the city of Los Angeles’s urban consumers. Madrigal states that in an average year, they accumulate for the consumption of over 195,500,000,000 gallons of water. An astronomical amount of water to being used, considering that the city consumes the resource at one of the highest per-capita rate in the State, meaning that each person drinks more water than many of their counterparts throughout the state even with a larger population. The image is clear, the San Joaquin Valley’s water supply depletion must be faced head on, because its’ supply is also heavily relied upon by the agricultural industry as well. In “Lessons learned from the California drought”, Benedykt Dziegielewki writes…

    Fracking Water Shortage

Aquifers are being depleted at an increasing rate and our water tables are sinking. We must reduce our water usage, while still maintaining our human needs. Fracking must be stopped, not only does it pollute people's drinking water, it also depletes our aquifers. When fracking occurs water is forced way below our water tables, never to be accessed again. IN this age we cannot afford to waste water in that way. Countries living in desert-like conditions should not expand their agriculture. Expanding to the desert will allow for a short time for those countries to be less depend upon others for food sources. However, the aquifers will be depleted and there will be a lack of food left. Countries in areas with water shortages will have to find ways to either farm with minimum water or seek outside assistance. We need to invest in more reach in desalinization. At the moment desalinization is a very expensive option that water companies are beginning to invest in. Governments in countries with few water resources should invest in these practices, even if it is expensive. Running out of water should not be an option. They should invest in more rainwater collection. We need to readdress how we look at the water. It is not necessarily a never ending cycle of harmony, we must invest in…

This in turn filtered faster through the ground water of San Antonio and actually helped sustain the local populace (Siedenburg 699). As less limestone “clogging” and other pollutants didn’t inhibit the production of more clean groundwater. The Clean Water Act of 1970 is also at risk, due to corporations demanding it to be unconstitutional, as it inhibited their right to dump in public water systems (Siedenburg 699). It also has been obstructed by the Federal Government by receding information to the public. This is a problem as San Antonio and most Texans are growing increasingly dependent on aquifers and groundwater. With the lack of information and a possible referendum of the bill, there may be a possible water shortage.…

Southern California imports about 85% of its water, most of it coming from the Colorado River. Because we import so much water, we are becoming too dependant on outside water sources, which needs to change if we ever want the drought to end. California has started pumping more groundwater in response to this threat, but over-pumping groundwater is not the solution either. In order to eliminate the importing of water, we need to turn to desalination, recycled water, and rainwater harvesting.…

On January 17, 2014 Jerry Brown the governor of California released a statement to be aware of the drought. There have been regulations to cut 20 percent from the average usage of water. The limit for watering lawns is twice a week from a specific time or it could lead to a $48 penalty for over using water. The restrictions have been accounted for to limit the water usage. Also washing your car has limits even though it's within your household. The government is trying to make sure we are aware that water is at its scarce. It is important we follow the regulations to make sure the future is…
