Waldorf Art Activity Analysis
Another activity that takes place in the mornings would be an art activity. The children have had four birthday celebrations since I have been interning at the Rose Kindergarten. Before every birthday celebration the children create drawings for the birthday boy or girl with crayons that are in the shape of squares and very think cylinder shapes. What I love about the paper is how the edges are rounded. Theses drawings are all put together to create a book. The book is fastened together with the hand died and spun yarn that the lead teacher, Mary has created. A child weaves it though the holes to complete the gift. More gifts are given to the birthday child, which includes treasures that the class has found from the outdoors. The last gift …show more content…
For the Waldorf Education this is how teachers assess children, by giving them a task and seeing how well they accomplish it. An example of this is how well the children can create a tissue paper star and be able to hang it up standing on a chair on their own. The teacher is observing how much the child knows and their capabilities for their age, if the child asks for help they are redirected on what to do and how to accomplish the …show more content…
They have no facial expressions this is to give the child the freedom to choose what the doll is feeling. The knot doll they are making is made from a piece of fabric and is not stuffed. The doll has a head, hands and feet are made from knots. when the knot babies are done being created they are born. What I mean by this is the lead teacher sings a song while holding the baby high up in the sky bringing her from heaven to earth. The child who belongs to this doll picks a name for it and then from their they rest in the cradle in the corner of the room with all of the other knot dolls the other children have made. All the dolls are not made on the same day it is something that is not rushed. It Is so surprising to me that the children love and nurture these dolls even if they are just so simple. To continue this activity the children are creating pouches that hang around their neck. The dolls will rest on their hearts just like the little ones did in their shirts before the knot dolls were created. The little ones live in little land and is a tool for the teacher to use during class time. These little ones all have names that come from nature. Back to the extension activity the children are creating a place to hold their knot dolls close to their hearts while they play and go throughout their day. The

To promote cognitive development, I will provide activities and materials to develop children's curiosity, problem solving and reasoning skills. I will provide a time in our daily schedule for exploring our manipulative cabinet where there are puzzles, magnets, gears, colored counting cubes and blocks. When reading stories I will ask open-ended questions and allow time for discussion. During circle time we will sing many fun songs about the letters of the alphabet and days of the week. Every other week we go to the library and have the librarian read to us. For the child with special needs I will have pencil holders and give extra time to complete their projects.…

This activity would support communication and intellectual development, because the children all need to communicate with each other deciding who is going to take what role; the song/story also helps develop listening skills. The children need to listen and think about what comes next and decide when it is their turn to either hide their duckling or let the old lady swallow their animal this is the intellectual part of the activity. Every child is different but this activity may cover a specific aspect to support a child’s individual communicational or intellectual development need.…

The philosopher, Rudolph Steiner (1861 -1925) founded the Waldorf School after the First World War (1918). The seed of his approach started at this school where he emphasised the importance of developing the child’s imagination and the creative ability. The Steiner approach is child-centred cross curricular and strongly believes in the important use of role models, routines and practical application. The daily routines in the kindergarten are a key aspect to the child’s learning, through adult-lead and child-initiated play. The natural materials and their environment are used to encourage and develop curiosity and imagination. The emphasis on reading and writing does not start until children are seven years old and they work with the child’s personalities.…

Children’s learning and development is part of the EYFS, we need to know how to plan activities that are at for the right age and stage of the child, we can find out what stage they are at by doing observations, then if we feel they can move on we then plan an activity for the next stage of their development. And when doing the activity we can praise the child to encourage them to carry on and make them gain self-confidence this is part of Skinners theory which is about Positive reinforcement.…

The program we researched is called Waldorf Education. There are many interesting observations I have made during this study of Waldorf education. The Waldorf education is based on an anthroposophical (anthroposophy-through study and practiced observation, one awakens to his own inner nature and the spiritual realities of outer nature and the cosmos. The awareness of those relationships brings a greater reverence for all life.) view designed by Rudolf Steiner, an understanding of the human being as a body, soul and spirit. It mirrors a childs development of childhood to adulthood. The students are instilled by an understanding and an appreciation for where they come from and an appreciation of their background as humans as world citizens.…

Observation enables the childcare practitioner, play worker, or educator to compare a pupil’s progress with the expected range for their age group, and to plan activities and support techniques that will lead to the next stage. Observation is primarily of children’s normal daily activities, their use of language, social interactions with others and samples that demonstrate their work.…
