Venture IP Business Phone System
If you operate a small business or are thinking of starting one, you should strongly consider the Venture IP business phone system. It supports up to 4 incoming phone lines per gateway and up to 200 local extensions. Simply plug your phones into the LAN (local area network) and they automatically configure themselves, assign their own extensions and add themselves to the directory of every Venture IP business phone attached to the system. What could be simpler?
Venture IP phones are powered over the network cables - an optional Power Over Ethernet (POE) power injector is available if your network doesn't provide power (1 injector required per phone). Each phone is headset compatible, includes 20 minutes of voicemail and incorporates a full-duplex speakerphone.
As with the Venture IP phones, the Venture IP Gateway plugs in anywhere on the LAN and connects to the regular analog phone lines. The Venture gateway provides auto attendant, audio input and output for music on hold or paging and other functions.
The entire Venture IP system is configured via the Aastra phone sets through menu driven options. You can also manage the phones via a web browser. Setup is straightforward for those familiar with basic networking. You will require a network router where you install this system. All in all, the Venture IP business phone system is an inexpensive, functional system that meets the needs of small business right out of the box.

The IS department began this entire project by first researching the current system at Butler and identifying what they currently had, and what they needed. They looked at the features provided by Centrex and how their current system worked and developed a plan of what they needed to improve and add to their system. Butler’s IS department researched other systems, listened to vendor presentations, and set up interviews with numerous potential providers in order to narrow down their decision of what system they would be installing. The IS department came across a system called VoIP that was extremely intriguing to them. Although it was a fairly new and expensive system, they saw it as an opportunity to improve their current system drastically. “Only twelve to thirteen percent of the market had VoIP installed in 2004. Even though the telecommunications landscape was changing with an emerging trend of increasing IP lines, the current statistics were still daunting and left us wondering if this was a good path to…

Some of those technologies are; IEEE 802.11e- which defines a modification through the MAC layer, IEEE 802.1p- which defines 8 different classes of service for traffic on layer 2-wire internet (including one dedicated to voice), and ITU-T G- which provides a way to create a high speed LAN using existing home wiring .…

A concern with implementing this would be bandwidth. Adding that many IP based devices could bog down the system if it has low bandwidth. Another would be making sure each location is connected to the same network to easily transfer the calls. Another concern would be making sure all employees are trained on how to use the new system to its full potential. These concerns can be overcome by upgrading their current network capacity to increase bandwidth and get everyone on the same network. The new devices can be made effective by supplying training and manuals to employees to ensure it is being used correctly.…
