Virtual Chemlab: Inorganic Lab Report
(VCL) Introduction / Generic Lab Introduction Virtual ChemLab is a collection of realistic simulations. There are two general chemistry laboratories, including quantum and inorganic. The purpose of the quantum laboratory is to allow students to explore and better understand the foundational experiments that led to the development of quantum mechanics. In general, the laboratory consists of an optics table where a source, sample, modifier, and detector combination can be placed to perform different experiments. These devices are located in the stockroom. You can gain access to the help menu, for the quantum lab, by clicking on the bell in the stockroom. The general features of the inorganic simulation include 26 cations that cam be added to test tubes in any …show more content…
(which way did it shift) Moved to the right. 4. Turn off the magnetic field, and turn on the voltage of the electric field to 10V. What happens to the spot from the electon gun? (which way did it shift) Moved to the left. In an electric field, the displacement of the electrons is related to their charge, mass, and velocity. The purpose of the Thomson experiment is to calculate the mass to charge ratio of the electron. The displacement of the electrons can be observed in this experiment, and the velocity can be calculated from the electric and magnetic fields. The forces produced by the electric and magnetic fields are qE and q  V x B, respectively (where q is the charge of the electron, V is its velocity, E is the electric field, and B is the magnetic field). If the electric and magnetic forces are equal, then the velocity of the electron can be calculated from E and B (V=E/B). What two fundamental properties of the electron does its displacement depend on? Mass and Velocity

Where should the signal on the phosphor screen be if the electric and magnetic forces are balanced? In the dead

This experiment seeks to explore different chemical reactions conducted in the lab. A cation is defined as positively charged ions, which are K+ and Pb2+ in this experiment, and an anion is termed as negatively charged ions, which are CrO4 2- and NO3 2-. The major objective of this lab experiment was to examine the reaction between cations and anions, as well as observing, and documenting the chemical reactions. We will be demonstrating the reaction between a solution of Lead Nitrate with a chemical formula of PbNO3 2, and a Potassium Chromate solution with a chemical formula of K2CrO4. The end result from mixing the two solutions should have a combined set of either the Pb2+ or K+ cation and likewise with the NO3 2- or CrO4 2- anion in its chemical formula. This experiment will demonstrate the chemical reaction between the cations and anions with an expected end result of a solid substance, which validates that a chemical reaction occurred.…
