ESPN tells the story of Richie Parker with a short seven-minute video, he also happens to be one of the most successful engineers in Hendrick Motorsports. The sole purpose of this video is about Parker’s success and accomplishments throughout his everyday life, which casually questions the audience, “how do you get through your day?” His story can serve as an example to ESPN viewers, Carolina natives, and others, in hope that he serves as an inspiration that anything is possible. ESPN captures the reality that most people don’t think about, the reality no one ever wishes to live, but with Parker’s pride and confidence, he only happens to prove everyone wrong.

He manages to do everything with his feet, including his complex job that involves computer modeling and other complex work. Slowly after ESPN introduces Parker’s everyday routine, it shifts to his background story of how he grew up differently than others. By getting his father and mother to tell park of the story, it really helps the audience feel bad for him. Along with that, the background music helped with that effect, but once they included clips of how his family adjusting things so he won’t be able to ask for help, that just gave the audience a spark of hope for him. Also those clips helped with solid evidence of how he did things

In his introduction live shot, Runge stumbles a bit, but then quickly recovers from it by restating the word and pretending like it never happened. Runge’s b-roll video that was shot in the same perimeter just through different angles around the same lake area in Lincoln Park was lacking and did not compliment the story well at all. Some close up b-roll on growing plants was more effective than the other videos because it represented pollen, a main cause of allergies. Runge also only followed around one allergy victim who did not have many powerful things to say beyond the obvious negative comments on…

As the old saying goes, “Those who can’t, teach.” Those are the precise words that got Bill Saunders to where he is today. As a child he spent his entire life growing up in the same brown colored house in Alpine, Utah. While in high school Bill decided to join the track team as a fun after school activity with his friends. He had never truly enjoyed running before so his expectations for the season weren’t exactly high by any means. Bill decided to join the long distance team his first season in ninth grade. Bill recalls contemplating quitting the team after the extreme amounts of pain he had been in after the first week. However, his mother, being the pushy, strong, good example in his life that he had needed, told him that if you start something, you must finish it, “I didn’t raise quitters!” He took his mothers words to heart and from that point he changed his mind set about track and went forth with the rest of the season having the goal of getting the school record for the one mile run. “It was a lot of hard work and I remember going to practice some days feeling like absolute garbage, but I knew what I had to do if I was ever going to reach my goals, so I stuck to it, and did just that.” At the end of his first track season, Bill had in fact broken the school record for the…

Rudy is a motivational movie in which the topics of the ability to comprehend the power of dreams and the triumph of the common person who strives to overcome and addresses one’s need to persevere despite obstacles and rejection. We watched this film in class from January 31, 2012 until February 2, 2012. Daniel Eugene “Rudy” Ruettiger grew up in Jolet, Ohio and was one of fourteen children. He always had a passion for football and played for his high school team at Holy Cross Junior College. His major dream was to go to Notre Dame, which eventually became true after being rejected from there 3 times. While doing his studies, he was informed that he had dyslexia, but he pushed through this difficulty and maintained a B-average in college with determination and sacrifice. Rudy was not on the actual football team at Notre Dame, he was on the practice team. He dreamt of a day that he could run out the tunnel and sit-in on one game, but he was only 5’6’’ and 165 pounds. Most of the football players on the team were twice his size, but he studied the game, and when he finally got a chance to play at a real game his tackle was a major success. This was a result of studying, paying attention, and taking each game seriously. Because of Rudy’s determination, five of his brothers went on to college and received degrees, which is very significant, coming from a family where no one furthered their education. Most importantly, no other player has ever been carried off the field since 1975. Rudy’s personal pursuit of happiness resulted in making him a legacy, maybe even a legend. I believe this movie was produced to inspire someone to follow their own dreams and aspirations, using Rudy as an example. A major aspect emphasized by the film is no matter what the odds are, you can overcome them. You can make it no matter what; a person can find a way. Also, success will not come easily; Struggle must happen to earn your dream. Just like Rudy, we can also achieve our dreams and…
