Us, Israel, Iran and a Nuclear War
A nuclear war looms overhead and the United States of America cannot sit back and watch it happen. We can ignore the signs, we can wait for another nation to step up or we can break our most crucial alliance. Those are our options. Those are our options if we all wish to die. As the world’s superpower, it is the duty of America to take a stand against such a large-scale threat. This threat is the threat of a nuclear war starting in the Middle East. Our most crucial ally is Israel, as we share common values. This ally is being threatened by another nation. Our role now is only one thing: to support our ally and any decision it makes. This is not to say we must instantly invade the enemy, starting a war, which could have been avoided in other ways. It is to say, however, that we keep a close watch on Iran and its nuclear development, and not take anything lightly. We must do everything we can to support Israel and persuade those who are more reluctant to do the same. If we are not to support Israel, and we turn a blind eye, the consequences are catastrophic. If Iran bombs Israel, immediately all allies will get drawn into the war. This is because the Middle East is such a central part of the world, mostly because nations depend on it for oil. Once each nation is drawn in, it will be World War III. The United States will be forced into a draft and our economy will collapse even more as our resources will all be pointed toward war. Fear will rage through the country and utter chaos will break lose. The answer is not to create a war now, but to show the world the United States supports Israel with any decision. This will show a power in numbers and hopefully bring fear upon those who wish to attack. Also, if the United States shows zero doubt in its decision to back Israel, other nations will be more willing to support as well. The United States has led the world in many things and it now has the duty to confidently rally support for Israel.

The U.S. and Iranian conflict started more than 60 years ago. It started when the U.S. and British intelligence agencies killed the Prime Minister of Iran. The U.S. then sought them for help almost 30 years later, by selling them weapons, but Iran had a plan of their own, America did not receive their help. In 2002, Bush declared Iran as an “axis of evil,” this angered Iran. That same year, it was revealed that Iran is developing nuclear facilities. During a phone call between the Presidents of the U.S. and Iran, the men expressed their desire to end the long running dispute between the two nations. They are still discussing ways on which to finish it.…

We have been to quite a few wars with European countries, such as Britain and France, but ironically they are one of our strongest allies. Such as the Seven year war, the French-Indian war, the Revolutionary war, the Opium war, and the War of 1812, to name a few. But despite these battles we have close ties with them. By isolating ourselves from this war, other countries will scratch their heads and wonder why we are sitting in our homes, surrounded by white picket fences, while being completely ignorantly oblivious as to what is really going on outside our own country. Various countries in Europe such as Britain and France have aided us in our times of need as well as other countries, and we would be making a big mistake by deciding not to return the favor. At this point we are the only major world power that is not involved in this war. What happens when a major country that we trade with or need supplies from takes a turn for the worst and we are forced to do without them for an extended period of time? If we choose not to intervene depression will spread like wildfire all across the globe. We are stabbing Europe in the back by watching them suffer this way. We need to do more than just send them supplies over seas, we need to help them as we would want them to…

The role of the US was also a crucial reason why Israel survived. The USSR and US were greatly involved with the Yom Kippur War as the USSR sent arms to Egypt and Syria and the US organised a massive airlift to Israel, which contributed to the military power they already had. Another reason why the US supported the Israelis was because they had similar political aims. They were against the spread of communism and the US was also resistant to the expansion of the Soviet Union. After the Suez crisis, the United States became…
