Unit 7- sociological perspective
P1- explain the main principle of sociological perspective.

Structuralism:
This perspective is interested in describing and understanding the main institutions of society. This includes family, education system, health services, the economy, the political system, religious groups and the media. In addition, structuralism is interested in knowing how these institutions work with each other and how they influence an individuals behaviour.

Functionalism:
This perspective make sure that every individual has a vital role to make the society run smoothly or functionally. If someone doesn’t work together social control comes into place to deal with deviant behaviour via positive or negative sanctions. Positive sanctions defines as hen an individual portray their behaviour as good they are give a reward where as an individual behave in a deviant behaviour then they are punished for their behaviour.
Talcott parson (1902-1979) sees society made up via different institution, which helps the society to function smoothly. This is the same as the body works. Each part of the body has vital roles to play in order to make the body function smoothly. If one of the roles doesn’t function the body will be weak. This is known as organic analogy.
All the institution ensures the individual socialise and behave in an acceptable way in society.
George Murdock (1897-1985) claimed that in all societies families have functions. He claims that in order for family to function properly sexual function is allowed and reproductive function to extend. In addition, socialisation is also taught in family in order for individual to behave and the economic factor which can be use as a financial source.
Parson (1951) also claims that the transition from birth to adulthood is through family as the child is taught via family and the stabilisation of adult personalities.

Marxism:
This perspective is developed by Karl Marx (1818-1883). Economic system plays a major role in an individuals life as this system define society and peoples place in it. Feminism:
This perspective have argued that sociology, as an academic discipline, was developed and dominated by men.
Marxists sociologist sees working class women as oppressed both by capitalism and by men of the patriarchal society. Their husbands dominate these women and they are also subsiding industry.
Radical feminist are perspective that include men dominating women. These are men in general. The family is seen as patriarchal institution.
Liberal feminist would argue that changes have taken place. These perspective believe that the improvements has been done and this done via legislation and policy.

Interactionism:
This approach focuses is on the small groups and how they influence individual behaviour and shape society. This
