Understanding the importance of interest groups in politics, demands attention to more than just explanation of its involvement in politics. My goal is to define the term ‘interest groups’, explain their relative position in the literature as regards to influencing policy and appreciate their value in one country’s political/legislative agenda. It is very critical to define interest groups as there are different types of these groups and its definition depends on the democratic type prevalent in the country.
