1. Identify occasions where the public have raised concerns regarding issues within the sector 2. Outline different viewpoints around an issue of public concern relevant to the sector 3. Describe how issues of public concern have altered public views of the sector 4. Describe recent changes in service delivery which have affected own area of work A recent incident in the media about a boy who accused a member of staff at a school in Darnell - Sheffield of sexual related abuse, caused many parents to keep their children away from the school until the reports were investigated, many parents were unhappy at the lack of information given out to them. The police were investigating and reported that this was an isolated incident and all charges were later dropped because of lack of evidence. The school followed safe guarding rules to the letter, and suspended the suspect until all routes of investigation had been taken Most of the comments on the incident were from parents who felt they had not been given enough information about the matter, but due to safe guarding regulations a lot of information could not be released to protect the identity of parties concerned. This is a key factor in the safeguarding regulation of any school in Britain. The school in question work to the best of its ability in keeping parents informed The incident has not made any changes to school policies, safeguarding standards and regulations maintain a good safety aspect of Birstall Community Primary School
