Obviously, there is demise in the relationship between the parents, but the relationships directly with the children are now critical and must be recognized and supported. Additional apparent stresses upon such relationships are economic, concerns of loyalty, parental conflict, and the previous level of nurturance prior to divorce. Children often feel they are caught in the middle of their parent’s conflict (Gilman, Schneider & Shulak, 2005). Children living with parents who seek to contain and/or resolve their conflicts, will fare much better over the course of time than children who live in the midst of parental conflict( Gilman, Schneider & Shulak, 2005). At the same time, children who continue a warm and loving relationship with parents and feel that their parents understand their experience will also fare better than children who have a less nurturing relationship with their parents (Gilman, Schneider & Shulak,…

One theory is ‘The Matching Hypothesis’ which is a social psychological theory based on relationships, proposed by Goffman in 1952. It suggests that in order for a relationship to be a long and successful one; both partners in the relationship must be equally matched in attractiveness. The reason for this is due to fear of rejection, therefore when searching for a potential life partner the primary drive is to select someone who is similarly attractive.…
There are two theories of the formation of romantic relationships, which are the reward/need satisfaction theory by Byrne and Clore (1970) and the similarity theory also by Byrne and Clore with Smeaton (1986).…

Many types relationships can develop between people. Relationships can be very simple, others may be complicated, some are healthy, while others may be unhealthy. Relationship can be separated into negative relationships and positive relationships. An example of a negative relationship can be found in Shakespeare’s play, “Romeo and Juliet”. Although relationships can be negative and positive, the relationship between Juliet and her father falls short of the qualities of a strong relationship. A strong relationship requires support, communication and, equality. Juliet and her father’s absence of these traits eventually caused the downfall of their relationship, and finally Juliet’s death.…
Christina reports having several relationships that serves as meaningful components to her treatment. The most important relationship the patient described is her relationship to her unborn children. The patient has expressed feeling extremely guilty about the troubled relationship she has with her living children, and this is a source of motivation for the patient to change and becoming more parent-oriented in her life choices. Another relationship the patient reports as important is her recovery includes her living children. She states she is committed to being compliant in treatment to increase her chance of regaining parental custody of the children in the future. Also, it appears that reconnecting with the children, and proving to them that she is trustworthy and capable of being a good mother is of significance to the patient.…

Every adult has gone through a phase where they were rebellious towards, or simply didn't appreciate, their parents. While most parents have a great deal of affection for their children, some parents express themselves through their actions. For children who grew up with affectionate parents it may seem hard to visualize what it would be like to have a secluded and strained relationship with them. And unfortunately some children grow up with cold distant parents who have little to no affection for them. Some children have a complicated mix of affection and fretfulness or are filled with angst for no apparent reason. As children, many are unaware of their parent's affection or the struggles that exist from parenthood. I was lucky enough to be…
I believe that Relationships are the connections between people which can be expressed in many different ways or situations. In the poem ‘manhunt’ by Simon Armitage he explores the relationship between a wife and her husband, whom is an injured solider who has returned from war. In nettles, the relationship is between a farther and his son who has fallen into a "bed of nettles." Both poets show the consideration felt by the reader of the poem for the other person in the relationship. In the manhunt, the narrator’s consideration is for the mental suffering which her husband is suffering. Similar to Manhunt; in ‘Nettles’ it is the father’s care for the injuries of his son which he feels was caused by the nettles.…
A love relationship in my present life is my boyfriend, we have been together on and off for five years. I am using him as an example because I already know what could make this relationship stronger and what can make it last. I have commitment issues thus the on and off of our relationship. When things get tough I tend to do something to break up the relationship. I think in order to strengthen the relationship I need to work out my commitment issues. I know precisely why I have commitment issues I just do not want to dig up old memories and deal with them. I know that is not the best approach especially when it comes to my mental health but it is easier to run than to stay and deal.…
In a household where the mother and father are the biological parents of their children, that family tends to do well over all. When there is both the mom and dad the child has more of a chance to learn and grow. As a child explores their surroundings they need the support from both parents. When exploring and experimenting, children need a male influence to reinsure themselves. The male presence also plays a big role when developing motor skills. Unlike most mothers, fathers are usually more “rough” with their child and are physical with them. Such as tossing the child in the air or pushing them done a slide. On the other hand, mothers are the reinsurance in love and care that children need. Although playing with dad might be fun, every now and again the child will end up getting hurt. And the mother is called on to take care of the child. Quite often when children are young, they will first look for a reaction from the people around them to figure out how they should react. And when a child sees his mothers reaction he is more likely to copy her. A mother is also there to nurture the child in self-care such as bathing and keeping objects organized. Mothers and fathers play huge roles in a child’s life. The mothers show the child how to have patients, love, and how to…
A relationship is how two or more people are connected to one another. In an ideal relationship the people in it benefit from it but sometimes it's the exact opposite. Lennie, George, Curley, and his wife from Of Mice and Men by john Steinbeck along phineas and gene from A Separate Peace by John Knowles, give examples of a relationship and how the people in it affect one another. The book Of Mice and Men is about two men one of which deeply depends on the other. The book a separate peace is about two boys who are very different but still remain to be best friends. All these characters show how relationships can hinder a person from achieving their goals.…
