I used to think that family is people’s most valuable treasure in the world, no matter how cruel the events which are happening outside the home, the firm connection of family members can never be disturbed. I have realized something goes wrong after reading Night, there is a place called concentration camp and a group called Nazi can instantaneously destroy the our strongest refuge in the world. The thing which gives me a heart attack is that your closest family member can turn from your protection into a horrible monster under a extreme suffering circumstance. War can tore integrated family apart over one night in longest distance--life and death. I see people who come from the same nationality and have same region are fighting for a bite of bread until there is only one person is still alive; I see the relationship between father and son are breaking into pieces; I see people being treated like unliving…

People who share a relation through blood does not define a family because blood does not mean people will stay together. A family member supporting another will create a bond that connect each other. Stephanie Coontz, a professor on family, wrote about a life experience when she received support from her family in her essay, “What We Really Miss About the 1950s.” She mentioned a time in her past when a librarian denied her decision on borrowing a book because it was not age appropriate for a child’s mind, so her mother went to the library and provided the courageous voice for Stephanie’s decision in borrowing the book that she wanted (33). Both the mother and librarian wished to act in a way that was beneficial for Stephanie, but those actions were caused by different reasons. The mother supported her daughter as a mother should of done, while the librarian supported Stephanie according to the principle of being a librarian. Even though both mother and librarian supported Stephanie, the only correct support was the one that will benefit Stephanie. The support from a family member to another vary, such as wealth for buying goods, advices for handling problems, or physical abilities for lifting heavy objects . Support from a family member will help in succeeding in a decision. Therefore, a family…

The meaning of family is too pass traits on through the generations. Although at the time I did not want to work hard and spend time with my grandfather it was worth it because he was passing on his hard working characteristics that he acquired in his life and was passing them on to me. I learned a lot working with my grandfather. At first I would be slacking off and not getting much done but he taught that it makes more sense to get your work done first then relax later. This trait has helped me in school because it showed me not to procrastinate and get assignments done as soon as…

In life you discover that family does not depend on who came from where and if you share the same blood. It depends on if you are there through both the good and the bad no matter the circumstances. “Come what come may, time and the hour run through the roughest day.” One way or another, what’s going to happen is going to happen. We cannot expect everything to be good all the time, nor rely on those we put our trust into. We must be prepared to be let down. Although you may get let down more times than you’d like, you must always remember to get back up and try again.…

The family was the single most stable unit, in a constantly changing politically charged environment; it was as colleen Byrne stated "a measure of security in a dangerous world". Therefore relationships with family members were vital for personal security and the accretion of political and social power. Weissman referred to the blood tie that existed within families as "the single most cohesive bond. The role of the family was to help in any social, political or economic matters; any member of the family could "normally expect his relatives to assist him in case of grave financial need and to give him support in lawsuits" (brucker). One example of financial add extended within a family is Donato Velluti who gave financial support to her widowed niece after her husbands death by paying for both his funeral and her mourning clothes. It was in the best interest…

My first reason why family is important to my life is because they have always been there for me. Many of my peers succeed at certain sports or even various classes like English or Calculus. Although, I did struggle with my other activities and curriculum classes, family has always been there. Throughout middle school and high school, I competed with my friend for captain of the soccer team. I didn’t beat him until eighth grade when my hard work finally paid off. Because of this, I now realize how dedication and persistence can help someone achieve one’s goals. If I never decided to join the soccer team and compete for first captain, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to challenge myself and gain the skills and characteristics that would benefit me throughout the rest of my life, if it had not been for my family pushing me to excel.…

People always say family is everything and they are the people that get you through the rough times. My family always helps me through the rough times in my life, I cannot imagine how someone who is barley receiving any nutrients in their body can survive the emotional challenges of being in a concentration camp. I decided to go with the topic of families in the Holocaust because the Holocaust was one of the first genocides I thought of. When we were told to be more specific I thought what better than the family life during and after the Holocaust. I had heard stories of couples that were never reunited and children who never saw their parents again and I wanted to learn more about what really happened and any information I could. I read many personal stories while doing research, that really helped give me more of an insight of how hard it was to build your life back and find your…

When it comes to the word “family”, many different things come to mind, especially the bond between children and their parents. For some, family comes to mind when they think of dinner every night together and how involved their parents are in their lives. Someone else may think of family as people living together, and relying on each other within an economic relationship, but nothing more than that. Although all families are different and unique, most have very similar conflicts along with comparable relationships.…
