Chief Master Sergeant Terry A. Savoie’s words spoke of determination, call to action and giving back to others when you have received so much in return, and the difference a person’s actions could make if they would only try. In keeping with his words, I believe in living as a global citizen, aware of and engaged in both the local and national communities around me. I strive to empower others, and I strongly feel that having join AmeriCorps service program has allowed me to be more effective in my support to the communities around me.…

If people don’t have any idea on what they want to do with their life, then yes, I believe that it would be a good idea for that person to join the military. Ever since the day someone has started school, he or she has been serving their country. People have been getting an education and allowing another generation of people to start where others have left off. By getting an education, a carpenter will be replaced by a carpenter, a lawyer will be replaced by a lawyer, and a candidate to be president will step forward.…
My reasons for wanting to join the army is because it will let me explore more of what I love. I realize one day when hiking that I have this amazing chance to all of this, and it would be an amazing path to walk on. These are some things I think about when I travel, and take nature walks.…

When I was nine I moved to Newark, New Jersey from Ecuador to have a better life. The whole time I was in Newark my mother would always tell me to study hard and go to college because I can do anything I could in this country. At that age I had different plans and having a successful career wasn’t on my to do list. I joined the military at the age of 18 to explore the world and leave Newark, because it wasn’t a good place to live. After joining and going through training I did travel to different places around the world and college was still not on my priority list. You see everything different when your 18 and don’t have anyone to tell you what to do with your off time. I did everything fun that I can think of and decided that I would just retired in the military and not worry about school anymore.…

There are multiple reasons in which I enlisted myself into the United States Army. The reason I joined the Marines is to serve my nation, follow in my father’s footsteps and to help alleviate some college debt. That is the biggest motivator for me to do what I do. College has always been a goal and aspiration of mine ever since I could remember. With the career choice I have decided for myself a degree is required in order to do it. I would literally be wasting my time in the marines if I do not work on my degree at all. Earning my degree is important to me and I like having something to show all my hard work. Joining the marines had always been a goal of mine along with getting my degree. The Marines offer different ways to obtain college credit, with the opportunity to go to college as well. They have bills and tuition assistance to pay for those who…
