Things I Learned In High School
When I think about my school year, many things come to mind. I think about the friends that I’ve made. I think about the highs and lows that have happened.I also think about how I’ve grown personally. My 7th grade year at CMS was full concepts learned, memorable experiences, and personal growth.
This year I have learned many concepts. One thing I learned is inequalities. I learned inequalities from Mrs.Pilato’s 3rd period math class. She helped me learn more important things. An example is 3y-3>12. The definition of inequalities is the relation between two expressions that are not equal. Another concept I learned is the Roman Empire/ Eurasia. I learned that concept in Mrs.Kavan’s 5th period history class. She taught me many things I didn’t know before. An example is that the Roman Empire was formed by Augustus after the

One experience I had was with Mr.C. He is a security guard and he keeps school safe. He makes sure that everyone feels equal. He looks out for people like for example he asks how our day was. Another experience I had was activities/ lunch. I went to some of the dances. There was fun music and some of my friends were there. The last experience that I had was with friends. I made many new friends and they are always there for me. They are supportive and help me through good and bad things. Those are some of the many experiences I had this year.
Lastly, I have shown a lot of personal growth. I showed personal growth socially. I did that by making contact with more people. I made new friends and talked to more people. I’ve also grown emotionally in control. I can now control my behavior by not getting into as many arguments and not getting referrals. My behavior is getting there I just need to leave all the drama behind. Lastly I’ve got more focus. I got more focus in math. I get my work done more thoroughly, and if I don’t understand a question I ask my friends for help. That is how I’ve shown personal

In grade 6 I went to a great school called David Leeder Middle School. Even though none of my friends from grade 5 were in my class, I had an amazing year. All of my teachers were fabulous except for one. My math and science teacher was the worst teacher I had ever had. I remember that she would always yell at us for asking her questions about our work. In grade 7, I was also in David Leeder, but this was the best year I had ever had in my life. Every single teacher of mine were very good and they taught everything very thoroughly. Also, I made a lot of friends during this year. Academically I had the best year and I took part in extra curriculars such as soccer and volleyball. During these two years I went to Pakistan, I went to New York…

Then I went to J.F.K. middle school for two years. And then I went to Enrico Fermi high school. I will always remember my high school years fondly. I had a lot of fun and I worked really hard in terms of work and studying. It feels like yesterday that I graduated high school. In reality, it’s been 2.5 months since I graduated. I was apart of Fermis last graduating class before the high schools were consolidated. This made me feel a sense of ownership and pride. I was apart of my school's history of the final class to graduate from it. I feel like I will forever be apart of my school and my school will forever be apart of me. I asked my dad how he remembers the day that I graduated. And he said that I said, “I can’t believe this day finally came.” (Sternal, Joseph.)I still feel like I should be walking into that school again. I can’t believe I’m walking into a school that isn’t Fermi even today. I’m very happy that I got to be apart of the last graduating class because it made my high school experience that much more memorable and…

Since Jack stood up for me, I’ve regained my confidence. Nancy invites me over during the week and helps me learn to be more carefree and how to open up to others. Nancy was vehement while teaching me and was hoping I could start to fit in. Mr. Addams continues to tutor me after school and my grades have been gradually increasing. My classmates have also started to accept that I’m different and I’ll never be like them, but being different shouldn’t affect how I’m seen by everyone. I started to make small conversations with classmates rather than holding back my thoughts and others have seen my looks may be different than theirs but they could still be friends with me rather than judge my mistakes and the way I talk. I’ve had less stress since…

My freshman year at Spelman wasn’t one for the books, it wasn’t the definition of #goals, it wasn’t full of memories, in fact it was probably one of the hardest years of my life. For as long as I can remember, I was always a well-known member of my school’s student body. I was the girl teachers requested, I made everything I ever tried out for, and in every leadership position in almost every club. I can confidently say high school was great and I thought college would be even better.…

Fall 2014 I felt at home and warm when I walked into Harper Woods high school. I spent countless nights trying to help my younger brother, who was 6 then, with his homework then put him to bed. Nights like those mom was pulling overtime and was working night shift. I could see how hard mom work to maintain the home and feed her offspring. Life wasn't terrible and it sure wasn't depressing, it was a learning experience. My tenth grade summer I applied to a caddie program at the Country Club of Detroit, in Grosse Pointe…

The events we go through during life’s course influence our outlook on life and helps assemble who we are as individuals. These events can either have a negative impact or a positive impact. I have chosen to share a personal event that had a positive impact on my life. As a young child I always detested school, therefore I never tried to do my best because it was not important to me. Every school year was the same, I socialized with my friends, doodled on my paper as the teacher was instructing, and I was completely satisfied with barely passing. During my eighth grade year at Coffee Middle School my perspective of school changed.…
