Rainsford will not take over General Zaroff’s game of hunting other humans. For instance, when General Zaroff asks Rainsford to go hunting, he says, “Thank you, I’m a hunter, not a murderer.”(25) Rainsford classifies himself as someone who hunts animals, but not humans. He disapproves of General Zaroff’s game and most likely still does. In addition, while Rainsford is being hunted, he thinks, “The Cossack was the cat; he was the mouse. Then it was that Rainsford knew the full meaning of terror.”(31) Rainsford is truly afraid at this point just like other humans are when they are being hunted. He has had the horrifying experience and probably doesn’t want anyone to feel this fear. As a result, Rainsford is a gentleman and animal…

In an action movie, producers and directors add certain music to certain scenes to make them more suspenseful, sad, etc. Many authors add details to a story about the setting to accomplish the same goal. In the story, Most Dangerous Game, the author adds many details about the dark night, General Zaroff’s mansion, and the jungle to add more suspense, or terror, to the story.…
In attempt to entice and lure the reader into reading further, the author of “The Most Dangerous Game” creates a suspenseful mood through the uncertainty and danger in the story. First of all, the described setting played a huge role in developing the tense mood. The island that Rainsford and Whitney approached was supposedly named “Ship-Trap Island,” and as if the name wasn't suspicious enough, Whitney proclaimed that “sailors have a serious dread of the place,” and “The place has a reputation--a bad one.” In addition, the uncanny feeling in the air shot a sudden chill down Rainsfords back. He recited, “What I felt was a--a mental chill; a sort of sudden dread. The use of this eerie environment draws the reader in, in desire to uncover the…
In this story, General Zaroff doesn't realize that what he is doing is wrong. What he is doing is killing people, and he seems to think it is the same as hunting normal animals. He got “bored” of normal animals, because they couldn't reason with him. Humans give him a more exciting hunting experience, according to him. Zaroff doesn’t understand that it is wrong to kill humans, and he shows this misunderstanding when he says “There is one [animal] that can [reason]” and Rainsford says back “But you can’t mean… I can’t believe you are serious”, To this Zaroff replies: “Why should I not be serious? I am speaking of hunting... I had to invent a new animal to hunt...I found one... it supplies me with the most exciting hunting... the value of human…
In the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, the story's protagonist Sanger Rainsford is hunted throughout the jungle of an uninhabited island, by General Zaroff a man who is fixated on hunting humans for sport. There are three types conflicts, man versus nature, man versus himself, and man versus man in Richard Connell’s short story, “The Most Dangerous Game.” Hunters hunt all kinds of animals. However, in Richard Connell’s short story “The Most Dangerous Game” there is an exception for General Zaroff, he hunts humans! From when Rainsford arrives at Ship-Trap Island “All he knew was that he was safe from his enemy, the sea” (3). As he pushes himself forward “‘I must keep my nerve. I must keep my nerve’” (11). To when Rainsford steps into the general’s pitty little game, “He leaped up from his place of concealment. Then he cowered back. Three feet from the pit a man was standing, with an electric torch in his hand” (13). Rainsford then experiences…
In the “The Most Dangerous Game”, the main character, also known as the short story's protagonist, faces more then one kind of danger. Rainsford becomes trapped on an island that is unknown to him, and although he is given shelter by a man by the name of “General Zaroff” the subtle atmosphere is dramatically broken by the general when he explains his favorite hobby. I wanted an ideal animal to hunt," explained the general. "So I said: 'What are the attributes of an ideal quarry?' And the answer was of course: 'It must have courage, cunning, and, above all, it must be able to reason.” This gives the indication that the general prefers to hunt men. This is confirmed later when the general states "I have electricity. We try to be civilized here.' 'Civilized? And you shoot down men?"…
Everyone in this world is influenced by someone or something. Your friends, parents, teachers, and even technology are only a few things that make you the person you are today. So when Rainsford stated that, "The world is made up of two classes: The hunters and the huntees. I agree with Rainsford; everyone is forced or influenced to do things. For example, bullies force you to be stronger, parents push you to be a better person and society pushes you to be the individual you are today.…
Humans in order to hunt and kill them must learn the jungle or other terrain in which the animals live. Zaroff and rainsford shared different views on hunting, Gen. zerof at one time enjoyed hunting beasts but after becoming an expert at animals the sport did not please him as much as it did, so he began to hunt human pray which has a greater intellect than an animal. On the other hand ainsford, after becoming very good at hunting has not lost the enjoyment, and when he hears that General zaroff hunts man and would like to have a “hunt” with him he begins to get nervous. General zaroff thinks that there is nothing wrong hunting man and even says that “I am not a murder but a hunter”. That one line is very unsettling because anyone in there right mind would know if not at least feel that it is wrong to kill other human beings. It is very unsettling how gen zerof asks rainsford if he may hunt him as if he was commenting about the whether and how it was going to be a nice day and if he would like a nice cup of…
To be a survivor you need 3 important traits , dedication, craftiness, and intelligence. In the most dangerous games, Rainsford, a hunter who survived being hunted in the woods for 4-5 days. Zaroff another hunter who lived on the island trapped Rainsford on the island and hunted him for trophy. Rainsford spent those days running and making traps to try and escape Zaroff. It shows determined because he never gave up.…
1. Movies, Novels, stories, etc. with the same theme or storyline with the story “ The Most Dangerous Game”…
To begin, Zaroff and Rainsford have two very different roles in “The Most Dangerous Game”. General Zaroff is perceived as the hunter and Rainsford is the prey. Zaroff presents a “game” where the two characters hunt each other. Although Rainsford wins this “game”, Zaroff is known as the hunter. This is because he is known for hunting humans. He has also never lost this “game” to any of his other opponents. Rainsford is seen as the prey (prior to him winning) because he is against hunting humans and considers it murder. He also appears to be afraid of Zaroff in the beginning. “ I wish to leave this island at once” (Connel 175). This represents his fear. Knowing this, it is automatically assumed that Zaroff will hunt and kill Rainsford.…
