Most Dangerous Game Symbolism

Richard Connell author of the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” did an exquisite job of defining mystery, but his story made the statement that there are some people in the world that don't care about animals or their feelings. This is shown in these four statements. First, Rainsford was talking to his friend on the side of a hunting yacht in pitch black saying that no one cares about the Jaguar this may suggest that he is a hardcore, Hunter. Not many people do it now, but there was one point in time where hunting was done in excessive amounts and most killed for sport , not for food. The second is when General Zaroff is showing Rainsford his vast collection of animal heads in his great hall before dinner and saying that he is hunted every kind of species that there is, except one, man, which in his opinion is the most dangerous game.In the story, General Zaroff has grown tired of hunting
Humans in order to hunt and kill them must learn the jungle or other terrain in which the animals live. Zaroff and rainsford shared different views on hunting, Gen. zerof at one time enjoyed hunting beasts but after becoming an expert at animals the sport did not please him as much as it did, so he began to hunt human pray which has a greater intellect than an animal. On the other hand ainsford, after becoming very good at hunting has not lost the enjoyment, and when he hears that General zaroff hunts man and would like to have a “hunt” with him he begins to get nervous. General zaroff thinks that there is nothing wrong hunting man and even says that “I am not a murder but a hunter”. That one line is very unsettling because anyone in there right mind would know if not at least feel that it is wrong to kill other human beings.
