The Ultimate Hero
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience,but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."This quote by Martin Luther King Jr. is a great description of what Beowulf is;his determination and willingness to fight makes him a hero.In the world there is and will always be two different kinds of people good and evil.In the story of Beowulf all evil are descendants of Cain;evilness might be very strong but in the world of good their stands a man named Beowulf that helps defeat all evil.Beowulf is a typical hero because he is strong,brave and loyal.

Beowulf is a very strong person,he contains very important traits that make him who he is a hero. Even though he has all the ability and strength that he needs to defeat anything he puts people before himself.He travels across the sea and puts himself in danger just to help the Anglo-Saxons defeat the dark evil monster;Gendel a monster that has terrorized the Danes for twelve years everyday nonstop."Heard how Grendel filled nights with horror and quickly commanded a boat fitted out,proclaiming that he'd go to the famous king,would sail across the sea to Hrothgar,now when help was needed (Beowulf lines 112-115)."

Beowulf fights Grendel without any weapons,he uses noting but his human strength."I have heard, Too, that the monster's scorn of men is so great that he needs no weapons and fears none. Nor will I.(Beowulf lines 261-264)." With his bare hands he tears the monsters hand apart from his shoulder."He twisted in pain, and the bleeding sinews deep in his shoulder snapped, muscle and bone split and broke. The battle was over.(Beowulf lines 389-392)."
