The Town Chiswick Chapter Analysis
When the children of Chiswick Town are abducted by desperate foxes and replaced with duplicates that look like them, a spunky tomboy is forced to outfox both the humans and foxes to save their town.
BRIEF SYNOPSIS:
The town of Chiswick is Steampunk World with mechanical devices and a towering Goo-ulator. The sheriff of the town, SHERIFF DERRINGER has a plan to get rid of all the foxes that live underneath the ground in caves. He plans to use his Goo-ulator to flood the foxes’ home. He wants revenge on the foxes for killing his beloved rooster.
EMILY STERLING (12), a spunky tomboy, likes to speak her mind. She’s jealous of her gadget-genius brother JOSH (10) and thinks her parents like him better. They argue all the time. Her father, JULES, doesn’t know how to deal with them. He remembers his sister, who disappeared many years ago after they argued. …show more content…
Emily is determined to find a way to escape. Her first couple of plans fail, but she won’t give up. She comes up with the idea of using the goo to look like the fox. She also received help from an unlikely ally AUNTIE FOX. Auntie Fox reveals her true identify as her father’s sister.
With Auntie Fox’s help, Emily outfoxes the fox and escapes looking like Fox Clarence. But when she gets above ground, she realizes she looks like a fox! When she tries to tell her mother that she’s Emily, her parents want to call the sheriff. Emily is forced to flee. She hides, but is found by SHERIFF LANAGAN, who takes her to jail where she becomes human again.
Emily confronts Fox Emily, but discovers that Fox Emily is very sad, just wants to return home too. She’s no different from human Emily. Emily and Fox Emily finally convince her parents that they have to save the town. Together they lead the charge to save the town and the foxes from Derringer, who plans to turn on the goo
