The three Web Browsers
The three web browsers that I chose to research in this paper are Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Netscape. I chose these browsers because they are the most popular and commonly used. Another reason is because I have tried all of them and I am familiar with there features. In this paper I will be explaining the similarities and differences between them. I will also write about some of the features that I am unfamiliar with plus the advantages and disadvantages of the various browsers discussed in this paper.

First off let me say that Mozilla Firefox is the Web Browser that I use the most and it is my favorite among the three. I still use Internet Explorer sometimes but mainly I just use Mozilla Firefox. There are more similarities than there are differences so I will discuss this topic first. The GUI of the three is very similarly. Similarities among the three include the address bars, tool bars, menu bars, status bars, history and favorites. They also offer tabbed browsing, pop-up blocking, plug-ins support, download manager, and mail and news agent. The differences of the three are that Internet Explorer doesn’t offer HTML editor like Mozilla Firefox and Netscape do. One cool feature that I have loved with Mozilla that Internet Explorer and Netscape don’t offer is the Restore previous session feature. I just love that I can close Mozilla and pick back up where I left off at a later time. Internet Explorer and Netscape can be only used on few Operating Systems like Mac and Windows whereas Mozilla Firefox can be used on a lot more Operating Systems like Mac, Windows, Linux, and Solaris. So in my opinion I believe Mozilla Firefox has more versatility and functionality than Netscape and Internet Explorer.

A feature that I was unfamiliar with is with Mozilla Firefox, I did not really know that it is fully customizable and configurable. According to Paul Thurrott 2004, “Firefox is almost infinitely configurable, with a fully customizable toolbar

The three browsers evaluated are Firefox, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. Both Firefox and Internet Explorer are well known and widely used browsers. While still gaining in popularity, Google Chrome is not as widely preferred by computer users. Firefox and Internet Explorer are relatively similar, when it comes to features and the ability to customize the browser to my preferences. I prefer Firefox for its speed in producing results. Both browsers allow me to choose the tools and options I use most often, as well as to select whether to remember and store browsing history.…

Although on the surface the Google portal website and Microsoft Bing portal web site may look the same, when one looks deeper into the matter one website stacks up much higher than the other. When one adds up all the details included in the package, like design, programs, applications, and number of visitors to the website, a determination can be made as to which website is more user-friendly. The utilities discussed in this paper include: how the search engine generates its responses, and how the design persuades the user to stay within a specific search engine.…

Netscape believed that eventually the network would replace the computer and cross-platform browsers would be more important than the operating system. Their vision of the future included a single interface that smart phones, television and interactive games would all use to communicate. This vision necessitated open standards to connect everything. Netscape released the first version of navigator in 1994 and almost immediately gained more than 50% of browser market share. The web was its primary distribution channel but over time it expanded into other means of distribution. Netscape negotiated bundling arrangements with computer manufacturers and software venders. It was originally priced at $39, but was free for academic and non-profit use. By 1995 Navigator had more than 10 million users and over $40 million in sales. The growth continued for 10 quarters but reversed in 1997.…
